Before my question I would like to say a huge thank you to this website and the members of this forum! I owe you all a great deal, this message board is a powerful resource that is available 24/7, including at 2am, including when the funds for a LLMD run out, and you are some of the smartest and toughest people around, it is a pleasure to have access to you! I hope everyone is taking care of themselves in these insane times, keep doing what you can, we will push through it!
So I have been in treatment with a lyme doc for about 3.5 years now. Most recently I have been on Rifampin for about 1 year. I have ran out of most of my other treatment supplements due to being out of work when this tidal wave of problems hit the world.
So, last night I took an epsom bath as usual in moderately hot water and I just began adding about 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide as well as maybe 1/4 cup of baking soda. Some background - the past 2 days I had felt some lymph node congestion in my neck and had been trying to do some lymph massage to get through it.
Well last night after the bath I woke up at 2am with familiar symptoms: pretty bad head pressure and headache on one side of head, insomnia, some stomach pain. I ended up getting an ice pack and taking 2 activated charcoal in case I had die off.
The only thing other than adding peroxide to the bath that I can figure could have caused this powerful nighttime herx is that I ate some pasta with pesto mix for dinner. After eating it, I did have a feeling of some "warmth" in the throat or lymph node. I feel like I have gotten this feeling before when eating cajun food, fennel etc.
In looking things up online last night, I did see that people sometimes make a cilantro or basil or oregano pesto and that these herbs and/or there oils can have anti-bacterial or metal chelating properties.
Do you think my herx was due to 1. Peroxide in epsom bath generating oxygen that killed my gram negative bacteria causing insomnia and head pressure or 2. Basil pesto mix killing off gram negative bacteria
and 3. My funds are limited at this time, what would you do if you had this experience (e.g. buy some basil essential oil, continue peroxide baths, look into ozone therapy?) Any thoughts on what the implication for my clinical picture is?
I have to admit, I am a bit ashamed that in treating my infections for over 3 years with a doctor, I just now tried peroxide in the bath when I see how extensively it has been discussed on this forum!
Thank you for reading this, I hope to be posting more on the forum. Overall I am doing pretty well compared to my early posts.
