Those of you who can go out...

Are you going out? With or without a mask? I just realized I haven't left my house in 100 days.

History:
Infected Bartonella and 2x Babesia Summer 2015 in Paris
Totally incapacitated between 2016 and middle 2018
Stem cells Jan. 2018 = 50% better by six months
Carnivore (zero carb) diet Jan 2019 to present = Got my life back

Even during my darkest days with Lyme, I was still leaving the house for weekly doctor appointments. I'm in Los Angeles and apparently we're seeing a spike after the protests - the governor has just ORDERED everyone to wear masks at all times. Anyway, I'm back and forth with the depression. I had literally just gotten my life back, was back in school, working, we had several great trips planned for my big coming out year. After everything I went through, of course, it's terrible to have to rug pulled out again.

I feel OK. I've been stress eating - I have now have one carb meal a day and it's not helping, but I'm experiencing some fatigue - which could also be depression, the carbs, the state of the world, etc.

I'm kinda ranting here, but I also want to know if anyone is going out and how you're doing it? It's hard here in LA. The parks and beaches are packed. My husband went to his eye doctor and just texted there's traffic for the first time in months. I don't know what to do.

If I recall, you're in Canada? Los Angeles has been pretty bad, lots of cases and then we had two weeks of riots, looting, and protests. TBH, I'm more scared of crazy people on the street right now than COVID - but I am still worried about it. Eh...I don't know. I guess just hold out a bit longer. I'm glad to hear you're working. How are you feeling these days?

Yes, I'm going out almost every day with a mask on. Sweden has one of the highest rates of COVID, and almost nobody wears masks here. We have recently started to meet people outside with our masks of but with some distance.
The risk when being outside seems pretty low and if you get it you get a lower viral load. I'm more afraid of when being inside. We have to start going to the post office once a week soon for work reasons.

I go out with a mask. I was already wearing a mask before COVID to help with mold and chemical sensitivities. Now I don’t stick out like a sore thumb and look like a weirdo😊.

I never stayed home. I was in the middle of a house renovation when COVID hit and continued going to Lowe’s and the grocery store. Continued eating out via drive-thru or curbside service.

Unfortunately, most of my neighborhood never obeyed social distancing at all and never wore masks - kids and adults alike. Until they or someone they know gets it, they won’t care.

As far as businesses go, some around here have done excellent jobs of protective measures while others are failures. Again, they won’t care until they get an outbreak there.

I googled something recently about long term effects of COVID. It definitely sounds like some end up with symptoms much like chronic Lyme. Scary stuff. I really need to take more precautions - like wearing gloves in stores, because the stores stopped cleaning anything. Now they leave a bottle of spray and paper towels out if you want to clean the shopping carts yourself.

What’s scarier though, is the denial I see and politicizing of everything (sound familiar). Because the authorities didn’t get everything 100% right, segments of the population want to thumb their noses at any form of authority and speculate that the media and government are fabricating everything.

Why would wearing a mask be unhealthy? I also have so much more knowledge about treating COVID with a risk/possibility that I have antibodies.We are soon going to go to my girlfriends parents in a car with her brother and girlfriend. She works in a hospital and the risk for us will be a lot higher, but I dont think its possible to avoid all risk for to long.

You are breathing in the CO2 that you are exhaling - breathing in less oxygen...

Here in BC our Health Officer is urging us to use masks when we can’t self isolate - to protect others from our droplets.

On Vancouver island (BC) most dont wear them but we have less than 150 positive cases on the island so risk is very very low - most of those cases are prior to May 1

i live in Los Angeles and when I need to go to a store or the doctor I wear a mask. I have no problem with it. Shortness of breath and mycoplasma is one of my biggest issues and even I can breath fine walking around with an N95 mask ( a real one, not the construction kind with the vent that needs to be plugged).

I do feel bad for the grocery workers who now have to wear them all day. It's not what they signed up for, but until we get some more data it probably makes sense.

Although I think everyone should wear them as the kind and courteous thing to do, I don't worry if I see someone without because I know it's on me to protect my own health and I'm equipped and prepared.

I'm afraid there are some who don't want more data because it would show how small a threat Covid really is.

If we can mandate masks for something with these death rates, what will government and employers be able to mandate next? Keep an eye on the states that are mandating masks. Most likely, they will be the ones pursuing a mandate vaccine for Covid. NY is already trying. Thankfully, people lobbied and from what I heard, it has been postponed.

Government doesn't know what is best for our health. We with Lyme and co-infections should know that best.

My work place uses logic and is also at the same time, filled with many more freedoms than other workplaces. No more regular colds there anymore, so this cleanliness looks to be doing something. A comfortable mask (that fits YOUR face) is no big deal. Will it be forever? No it wont.

Guess I don't know any state that made masks a law........I thought they were just suggestions. As someone with a compromised immune system, who's had had enough people coughing and sneezing in close proximity , I would rather have some protection from them, when shopping or working ect until this covid thing is better understood..

As far as businesses go, they are private enterprise and can do what they want to some extent - that is also a right.

As far as society or government choices "pushed on us": I can dis-connect the seat belt chime in my vehicles too, but choose to wear a seat-belt. And if it weren't for motorcycle helmets, I could possibly have a brain injury. Once a lady five cars behind me using a cell phone rear ended the car ahead of her which added up to a five car pile up. She didn't get hurt, some others did. It was her choice, and others payed for it. Because of people like her there are now cell phone driving laws. Too bad she didnt use common sense when it was her choice to do so. Her poor decision certainly caused others time , pain, money and major inconvenience.

That map is just more inaccuracy. I live in a state that says "some requirements" per that map, and I can tell you its suggested, not mandatory.

The US has the highest rate of infection per person on the whole planet - because of the "freedom fighters" stubbornness to temporarily modify their behavior. Its mostly the same stereotyped group of people that are against it. As far as politics go, I don't fit into the right or left, I'm common sense.

Wearing a mast does not hurt anyone, some are uncomfortable though. People need to experiment in finding a type thats fits better. I have a high bridge nose and high cheek bones (the hardest of faces to fit), so I need a contoured mask not the cheap flat ones that suck. And I relax/modify the strap pressure to fit my head. A comfortable one Is no big deal but does take time to figure out..............just like finding jeans that fit.

Lyme isn't a big deal either for most of the public.

Some of the countries affected the most: USA, UK, Brasil, Russia. They have in common leaders that have neglected the threat. Big mistake.
I am based in Spain and we have suffered a lot but the measures have worked so far. Why to deny the obvious? It is not politics it plain science!! Very sad...
