I'm doing gentle yoga every day too - 4 months now. also got the collagen on the way. good to keep moving step by step

Thank you both. I ordered the collegen - I just started to realize how creaky I feel - hope it helps.

I’ve always had tight hamstrings so no surprise those are affected. I’m going to try releasing with trigger points. Thanks for the help!

Before Lyme I was very fit. I would work out at the gym 4 times a week. In addition, biking and hiking during the week. During my Lyme decline, I could do little exercise. Too much pain, fatigue and a host of other symptoms. It made me depressed when I tried to work out and failed.

As you said in your opening statement “it’s a long and slow journey”. This is so true! It is wonderful to hear you understand this. Having a realistic timeline to full recovery is very important. Stress makes things much worse and can be the main reason for a person not recovering. Thinking recovery will be short term will bring on stress when you see it not happening. Stay on cause and remain positive and optimistic. Full recovery is achievable.

I had chronic Lyme. Took me 2 years to recover and am at the 95% plus point. Also, I am back doing all my previous workouts at the gym along with bike rides and hiking and at an intensity equal to before Lyme. You will get back on the trails again.

thank you so much Rig2044 that's super encouraging to hear. I'm glad to hear you've made the recovery. I'm in it for the long haul. on the plus side I feel like if I only do one thing with my lift it will be hiking and wild camping. so that's a gift to have that much clarity. in the meantime slow journey. Out of interest what was your course of treatment?

Hey Intheuk I’m also in the UK and like you and so many others was was fobbed off by my GP.

I’m currently treating with herbs (buhner Protocol) how are you treating at the moment? If you need any info re: herbal providers in the uk do let me know.

Yeah it's a common story sadly. I'm on Buhners protocol and I also got tick tox from Germany. I got some advice from a friend of a friend who is a herbalist with lyme at the start, but largely been figuring it through my own research - fitting the pieces of the jigsaw. speaking to people with it directly and some support via a friend in France. I was only diagnosed a month before lockdown so I'd literally just started on the herbal medicine. I'd been weighing up the idea of anti b's. I took 3 rounds of doxy at the start but then lockdown happened and the choice was made for me as I couldn't access anything else. I'm definitely better than I was at the start of lockdown so focusing on the little steps of progress. but it's hard to tell a lot of the time . I keep positive and slow. Acceptance. where are u in the uk Szabo? how is your journey?

Ah I’m glad you have found your way for now, I’ve not heard of tic tox I will look that up. I also took Doxy for 2.5 months, I started the Doxy a few weeks after my bite so I think ( although cannot be 100%) that I’m predominantly dealing with bartonella and babesia as I tested positive for both.

I’m scared to say this but I’m doing much better, I’ve been on the herbs for 2.5 years however I’ve taken breaks inbetween, sometimes for months. I was on maternity leave when I got bit so I didn’t return to work until recently, it was incredibly tough as the fatigue I had was just awful and looking after a baby as well was testing. These days My energy levels are much better, I’m working part time, going on daily walks and on the whole doing so much better. I know I’m not out the woods though as I get random bart streaks appear on me, get babs night sweats and skim manifestations. It’s my fault for stopping and starting treatmebt. I’ve now started on artemisinin for babs and I’m considering jernigans protocol for bartonella.

I’m in leicester! So lockdown only finished for us yesterday!!

Where are you? I see you are a fan of cornwall, I love Cornwall!!

Hi szabo. I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. I just got a positive test result for lyme -- although I don't trust if the doctors have even tested me for everything as they've been clueless so far. but I don't have any of the sweats or other symptoms. it's just chronic fatigue, brain fog, light sensitivity and muscle aches. these have been a lot better in summer. winter will be the true test.

I haven't missed a single dose of herbs. u've done so well with a baby too - I can't imagine! that's so tough. well done for hanging in there. I've got a good friend (old housemate) in Leicester so I go up there once a year. I'm on my own version of lockdown now. quit the supermarket and exploring within a mile of my house. but I do remind myself I am doing better than at the start of lockdown.

I'm in Brighton so when I can secure a lift I've been for a few swims. lucky but I've avoided the city for months and have no desire to go back. nature is much stronger call for me.

tick tox is prescribed in France and Germany. it's a blend of essential oils. I got an email from a trusted friend who's friend's with a doctor. I can email u it if you're interested (I translated it to English)

Thanks for your kind words intheuk. It sounds like you are on the right track to recovery, did you get tested on the nhs? I didn’t have symptoms of any coinfections until I started treating them. Sometimes it’s tempting to leave it alone but then I get scared about the consequences of that too! Ahh Brighton how lovely smile I’ve only been once but loved it!

Yeah I’m getting to appreciate nature and the simple things so much more! Give me a walk in the Peak District to a day in London anyday!

Yes please if you would send me the details for the oil blend that would be super.

yes I got tested on the NHS. interesting I didn't know that. thanks for the tip. I just checked what the recommendation is for babs and it says artemisia annua - which Ive got already! it's on the French protocol. good work.
nature is my number 1 in life. getting ill then the lockdown has really amplified that for me.

yeah of course I will do. I'm taking local very literally these days. Really getting to know the 1 mile round my house. lucky there are some nice spots. I've spoken to a few people with it. everyone provides a piece of a puzzle.- then u have to make your own!

wow time really makes a difference. almost two years since I got the tick I finally made it away on holiday which felt epic in itself. not only that but I spent just over a week carrying all my kit, auto immune compliant food and wild camping on the way and hiked 90 miles!

I can't quite believe it, in the middle of a heatwave for half of it too but that just got me thinking lyme doesn't like heat. I had a million stops on the way, but I did it. and it feels incredible, that anything is possible. I have worked so hard to get to this point, literally building myself up one step at a time and it is so reassuring that I can do it.

for me, nature is my ultimate energy source. and I am so grateful, I don't know where I'd be without wild camping.

I couldn't get out of bed at the beginning, and I am not better but I have figured out a way to not let this defeat me and I wanted to share it is possible.

yeah it really is. even though ironically I got ill from wild camping I wouldn't give it up for anything. it is my absolute ticket to bliss. I am so grateful for nature. it sorts me right out
