Maybe kids are able to neutralize the virus in a way that makes them less contagious..
No, they are not. Take a look at this study, with a lot more participants, in Israel, after a large outbreak 10 days after school
opened
https://www.eurosurveillance.org/content/10.2807/1560-7917.es.2020.25.29.2001352I believe that we are fooling ourselves thinking children cannot transmit the virus. They can, in between them, and to their parents. But they just have mild symptoms.
As a side note, i see a plethora of scientists saying that re
opening schools is safe because children do not spread covid as well as adults. Well, after CDC told everybody there is no need to wear masks, because they were in short supply, only to tell them please wear masks a few months later, now i see the same logic with school re
opening. If children do not pass on the virus, then why has Israel been hit so hard just after school re
opening? And take a look at that paper about
a school outbreak.
Teachers need to teach, children need to learn to stay above the curve. We all understand that. Yet lying about
covid transmission among children just to justify the means will only erode even further the public trust in the authorities, at a time when we need it to be as high as possible... Yes children can pass covid among themselves, yes
opening schools is dangerous for parents and for teachers, yes we must
open schools especially where online classes are impossible, so that our children will not fall behind and lose 1+ years of education.
