I've just had a "deep-cleaning" on all my teeth/gums, yesterday, saraeli. They noticed somewhat serious bone loss, receding gums, and several bad "pockets" in my mouth (where the bone loss is serious). I also, like Girlie, live in an area with relatively low COVID, and I believe the dentist's office where I go is quite careful. I also have pretty good teeth (with few/infrequent cavities)--but have gum and receding bone problems. I asked the DDS, last time, if it was possible that long-term Lyme could be causing it, and his opinion was "yes." Though he may not know much about
Lyme at all.
Their office STRONGLY recommends using the "original" version of Listerine. Apparently there's good dental research and anecdotal data about
it being highly effective as oral antibiotic. It's got Thymol, Menthol, and Eucalyptus oil in it, along with a hefty amount of alcohol. You can't even taste the alcohol, though--the flavor is SO strong. I can't even tolerate the full strength (which is what they recommend on the label) . . . I dilute it 50:50 and swish it around a little longer.
