WalkingbyFaith,
I am attacking no one. I am challenging this line of thinking because of the precarious straights it may - inadvertently - lead us to. PwLyme are frequently disbelieved in places like the UK, and the dogwhistle query that often leads to a psych diagnosis is "Were you under a lot of stress at the time? Has there been a trauma in your life?'
If you think that won't happen in the US, I suggest you reconsider and recall the stance of several authors of the 2006 IDSA Guidelines. The truth is, it's already happening in America with alarming regularity.
We have appalling hurdles simply proving we have Lyme, let alone which species or strain (and both matter). or whether we've been infected by additional hitch-hiking pathogens. People get Lyme regardless of whether they are stressed or not. Might stress impact the immune system? Maybe. There are plenty of studies which suggest stress might. Plenty of studies that suggest Vit D levels do, too. None to my knowledge prove either. We just don't know yet.
You have every right to share experiences and speculate, just as I can express my concerns about
potential flaws or ramifications of that speculation. It's called conversing and debate, and it;s through this discourse communities move forward, particularly in health forums that are brave enough to tackle contested or orphaned diseases.
