Hi,

I am about the start Disulfiram and am wondering what toothpaste and shampoo/conditioner people use when taking this drug? Everything that I look at has some type of alcohol so I am curious to what others use. Thanks

I found the alcohol restrictions on disulfiram to be a bit exaggerated.

Obviously don't go drinking on disulfiram but things like hand sanitizers (yes even the alcohol based once) were perfectly fine for me without causing any issues.

I started with all alcohol free products like alcohol-free shampoo, toothpaste, and lotion but later learned none of this was needed.

Even some fermented foods didn't cause an issue.

So my advice would be not to stress it too much as long as you aren't drinking alcohol.

If you are really concerned you can search for "alcohol free shampoos" on amazon, they have some really nice ones.

That's just what I would do.

Now I'm bald so I don't need shampoo anymore lol.

I only ever brush with baking soda.

Most people would likely need to switch to a soft bristle brush if they are using firm or medium.

All toothpastes, even biotene thats supposed to be gentle, make my mouth break out. Been that way my whole life.

Like the previous posters... I used my normal toothpaste, shampoo and deodorant brands, but stopped my oral rinse and changed to alcohol free Listerine. I was originally cautious of fermented foods, even hot dog relish, but never had an issue with any foods through my first nine months of DSF.
