I had posted about
how I was having great results using a high fat, ketogenic diet in healing my immune/neurological diseases.
But I wanted to speak about
another piece of the puzzle that my NP has clued me onto. I had complained on this board multiple times that I had extreme exercise intolerance. My muscles burn as soon as I start working out, to the point where, as an otherwise athletic looking guy, I find it hard to run even a mile, no matter how much training I have. My NP astutely recognized this as lactic acid buildup. In concert w/ my complaints of fibromyalgia and migraines, both which have been linked to acidosis, and some critical risk factors like dysbiosis and high caffine intake, she surmised that a thiamine deficiency could be underpinning my chronic issues going back to my teens, long before any downstream autoimmunity even began. This was very intriguing to me, as I've long complained that there was some breakdown in one of my critical pathways "gumming me up", but I could not figure out what...I assumed it was mercury, for lack of a better enemy.
I never realized how important B1 is. Without it, none of the other b vitamins work properly, and neither does the krebs cycle. A lot of people theorize that metabolic insufficiency is the lynchpin behind all chronic illness. I will not try to explain this guy's work, as I'm just beginning to look into this stuff and try to understand it, but I'd say the video is well worth the time if youre suffering from CFS or neurological issues.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vehsfddg2huRight now my plan of attack for immune and nerve rebuilding is a high-fat ketogenic diet, but one of the supplementation changes she's made is high dose bentofiamine and all-thiamine, and ONLY THEN will we add in other b-vitamins and ALA. Will keep people posted on if it helps, so far I'm only up to 500mg. Takes time to ramp it up.
Note: You will also recall that I wrote a post a few months ago about
how Alka Selzter Gold ameliorates my symptoms for brief periods. It's very well possible that its leveling out the PH level of my blood when I'm suffering from mild lactic acidosis
