Cold that won’t go away

There is something strange going around. I have had cold symptoms for 3 weeks now. Mostly my ears and nose feel pressurized. Ears keep popping. Maybe you can get old fashioned sudafed or bronkaid? You have to specifically ask for it, they keep it behind the counter. You don't need a script though. But it's not the new sudafed that is on the shelves, that one is useless. Good luck.

yeah, there is an odd bad cold virus doing the rounds over here also. basically bad head cold symptoms and lots of coughing - and hangs on for 3-4weeks. my sister and brother in law had it - both for around 4 weeks they dont have lyme.
my partner had it also - she is recovered from lyme pretty much - and is still coughing after 3 weeks
i have had it 10days now - but past the worst - just feels like the cough will be with me for a while yet.

i lost my sense of smell completely (not even chopped garlic 1inch from my nose|) so thought perhaps it was covid - but have had negative lateral flow and PCR tests - so seems like its just a bad cold

i would say - just do all the usual things, rest, liquids, keep warm, maybe hot baths (seem to help me ) you should be getting towards the end now.

I also lost my smell completely and 98% of my taste for about 24 hours. My PCR and at home covid tests were surprisingly negative.

My girlfriend is fully vaxed and she started to get the same symptoms but kicked it in 4ish days before it even got bad. I only got 1 shot of pfizer. So it would make sense that it was but I'm really not sure what to think..

All of this is so crazy! For the people who had this long lasting cold did anything specific help you recover? It went through my whoLe family and my sister who a,so has Lyme is on the full Cowden protocol and still is having trouble fighting whatever this is. Thanks again for the help!

Was thinking of taking some ivermectin but the symptoms are relatively mild so I don't want to waste the ivermectin that I have left.

Yes, but you can get ivermectin and fluvoxamine from the usual places (ADC and Inhouse). If you can't get atovaquone, try nitazoxanide instead.

I really didn't like fluvoxamine as it made me kinda manic. No side effects from ivermectin, but it took a lot to have any noticeable effect. I was taking 12 mg per day.

I didn't lose my sense of smell from covid. The loss of smell seems to be an autoimmune thing that some people are susceptible to and some aren't.

Mepron stopped the virus rather quickly. Ivermectin a little less quickly. I didn't try nitazoxanide. When I had a real active infection, taking mepron caused a bit of a herx where my immune system would react to the inactivated virus.

With long covid, taking antivirals just made my symptoms slowly disappear. It's such a small amount of virus that there's no herx or similar reaction. I'm not surprised that people with long covid test negative on a PCR test. It seems to be a very small amount of virus causing these symptoms, but it's hard to get rid of it completely and it keeps relapsing.

Fluvoxamine is an anti-depressant that seems to alter the immune response in some way that helps with covid. It worked, but the neuro effects were kinda annoying.

I would assume that if you have these lingering symptoms and taking antivirals makes it go away, then it's probably covid. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

I have had something for almost 2 weeks now. Two Sundays ago, I sneezed and blew my nose and two tiny dots of bright yellow came out. I knew that wasn’t good but forgot about it until a couple days later when I sneezed again.

Then I felt that irritated inflammation feeling in my sinuses like you get when you have a cold or sinus infection. I got some guafenesin, Xlear, and Source Naturals Wellness Formula. I stopped taking Zyrtec and went back to Zyzal. Still dealing with it, though some days are better.

I blew another spot of yellow out a second time a few days after the first. So far, nothing else has happened. I will continue taking the guafenesin and Wellness Formula as long as I need to.

I don’t want to take decongestant unless I have to, as it affects my heart. At first I thought this was a cold. Since it didn’t progress, I assume that the Zyrtec was thickening nasal secretions where they couldn’t drain well enough and trapped some bacteria in my sinuses. The guafenesin seems to thin secretions just enough.

i am hearing from a lot of people without lyme that they have had or have cold that has been v drawn out over a month with symptoms waxing and waning - and basically hard to shake -

i am into the 3rd week myself and still getting things like headaches and fatigue coming and going - so i think its just the nature of whats going around.

we have been social distancing for nearly 2 years so there is likely a pent up pressure of these respiratory viruses in circulation and now as we all go indoors they suddenly have a chance to spread.

i wouldn't worry too much at this stage - if it weren't for the long covid phenomenon - raising awareness of odd post-viral effects - we probably wouldn't give it a second thought.

For me, recurrent headaches were a symptom of long covid.

The usual treatments worked (atovaquone, ivermectin, fluvoxamine).

Yeah, that's what happened to me. If I took a dose of ivermectin (or atovaquone) the symptoms would go away for a few days, then come back.

I had to keep taking it for around a month. Covid is really hard to get rid of completely.

Make sure your Vitamin D3 levels are where they should be. It's fundamental to resistance to colds and flu, and many people are deficient, especially in the Winter, and especially with the lockdowns. Zinc also.
