Vaccine Exempt?

Is anyone here officially exempt from the covid vaccine? If yes, how did you obtain exemption? I'd like to rejoin the land of the living, but so many events are asking for vaccination. And I'm not getting the shot.

I have lots of reasons:
-Pretty much all modern medicine gives me a hard time
-Everyone I know who got the shot also got COVID
-No one seems to know what Lyme + COVID means
-My medical (general practitioner) doctor didn't argue when I told her I wasn't getting it. She said, "That's fine" and she understands. She agreed there isn't enough info for Lyme patients.
-Most people with long-COVID sound like they're describing Lyme
-My sister has been working in close quarters with at least six people who had COVID, two died (both in their 60s, ex-drug users, and morbidly obese) and she hasn't caught it. I've been around my sister for nearly a year now and I haven't caught it. I'm not worried.


I'm perfectly happy to mask up and social distance, but I'm not feeling confident about the shot - which feels like a major roll of the dice for Lyme patients or anyone with auto-immune. I'm also being responsible: my hair stylist (who is vaccinated) came down with covid and since I was exposed (we were both masked), I'm self-isolating for two weeks just to be safe. My husband, who is exposed to me (and thus exposed to my stylist), tested negative.

All that said, how did you get exempt? Does anyone know?

Unfortunately, I don't have any exemption information.

But, I still think about you and your diet success. How are you feeling, these days?

In the US? Not sure what your worried about. Exempt from who?

If in the US, the government does not require it, and probably can't. They can only suggest it. And the opposite would be true to- the only "grand vax exempt" could be from the very top governing body; the state or US government- only they can tell private business what to do or what not to do.

As far as places of private retail companies or events ect- currently its their choice to make their rules since its their company or place. Legally, its no different than "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy. They prob take suggestion by their insurance company.

Unfortunately some certain employees do enforce it, and in most US states your employed "at will" - you can be canned for any reason, any time.

I never got covid (finger crossed), but the second shot did ramp up my autoimmune antibodies (actually tested it) making me very sore and hyper for about four weeks. So I didnt get the suggested booster.

There are a few indoor events Id like to go to this winter or spring. Not so sure I want to go to something with actual "seating" now though, even with the vax. Walking around is one thing. "Assigned/ticket" seating near some strangers? Unless things improve, (its getting worse).... no thanks.

I was not going to get the vax - but I would have been laid off - I work in an elderly care facility.
So I caved - last February.

I’d likely have gotten it anyway - as now that I’m finally feeling better - lyme wise - I want to travel. Need to be vaxed to travel.

As it turns out - I have not really suffered bad effects (that I know of) from the vax except for a few days after the shot. (Arm pain and fatigue)

No one I know that got the shot has gotten Covid.

But, pre vax - early on - my husband got Covid and it scared the heck out of him.

I don’t know if it really is a roll of the dice with Lyme to get the shot.
I know several people with Lyme who are fine after the vax (so far)
Many forum members have been vaxed too.

It’s not an easy decision for some of us.

Not sure about exemptions - no one I know has gotten an exemption.
You can choose to not get the vax - but you won’t be able to go to restaurants - etc that ask for the passport.
That’s the way it is where I live.

I appreciate everyone adding to this conversation. ATM there are no laws which state you need to have the shot, although like Astroman said, it's still like "no shoes, no shirt, no service" so it's all self-imposed restrictions as mandates are not laws the shot is still in the experimental phase - so yeah. But you can't eat out in this town without your QR code. I figure, this is going to last at least another year of this nonsense, so in the meantime, I'm hearing people are getting exemptions, but not sure how. Anyway. Thanks everyone.

And DudeAbides - I'm OK. Been having pretty intense eczema flares I assume are related to stress - my husband and I have been up in each other's grill for two years and it hasn't been fun. Just trying to keep to myself, doing my own thing. He doesn't get why I'm terrified of the shot or why won't go see my doctor for the eczema - which I've done many times already and they always just give me steroids which makes it worse. You all know. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I've just learned not to trust the first thing doctors throw at you...like the covid shot which is like putting out a match with a fire hose. No thanks.

The larger companies with federal contracts are being forced to fire unvaccinated employees by Biden, though the Supreme Court has been looking at that case right now. If you work for a large employer you’d have to apply for an exemption through them. I think maybe in NY you’re required to have a vaccine passport to do a lot of things. Not sure how you apply for exemption there. Local govt?

my cousin is a nurse who refused the vax at work , she had to almost unionize the rest that weren't vaxxed and they used a legal assistant to carefully craft letters of refusal under religious beliefs . even mega hospital does not want to start a civil rights litigation battle so the allow it with ridiculous amounts of testing.
your state has qr codes for vaxed?! we have highly duplicatable paper cards or a photo of your card works for most establishments...

I just have a wallet sized flimsy card with vax dates on it from the place that did it. Kinda like a receipt. Not state issued or anything, so they are different depending were you got it.

Only places that want to see vax proof are larger indoor entertainment venues in the bigger cities, which I've not been too, so I've not been asked to show it. You can go in any local bar, restaurant or retail store, library, in my area with nothing vax related, just entry way signs suggesting non-vaxers to at least "mask up" at the grocery stores and walmart/ target places. Small stores could care less this time around vs a year ago when there was more pressure on them.

I have the QR code in my photos.
They scan it at the entrance of the restaurant..

I’ve only had to produce it a couple of times at restaurants.
Not needed at the grocery stores… or other places I visit.

Wow, I had no idea they went hi-tec with it.

So in Canada they track you with your own personalized bar code. Isnt that nice.

So...the government hands out scanners to all businesses? Is this national or province doing this?

Its Provincial - I’m sure most of the provinces are doing this tho.
I don’t know who is paying for the scanner.

I don't have a smartphone (I'm a cave dweller, too), but they can scan QR codes with their camera. In the newest iPhones, no separate QR code app is needed, but older phones will require one of the free apps.

The CDC has instructions on how to create a QR code for one's Vaccine Certificate:

Every generation in the last thousand years prob said/thought the same at some point in time..

Imagine when social security numbers were first given, i'm sure some were completely freaked out over that.

I was surprised to learn they've been around that long! It's only been in the last few years that I've noticed them. I recently saw a news article about a young guy who got his vaccine certificate QR code tattooed on his arm.
