alpha lipoic acid and painful fillings

I am getting a lot of conflicting information and now feel I have googled myself into a hypochondriac. I recently started a powder supplement that I later found has alpha lipoic acid. While taking it my fillings/teeth become extremely painful. I am a child of the 70's in which I received fillings but have no idea if they are amalgam or not. Is there any correlation between this supplement and my extreme pain in my teeth? And if so, am I doing more harm by stopping my supplement (assuming that the metals are being moved through the body)? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. If your fillings are metal, then they are amalgams. I would stop the Alpha Lipoic Acid. I was also a child of the 70’s and had a mouthful of amalgams.

I took Alpha Lipoic Acid for a couple of months and got a weird numb pain in the roof of my mouth up into the center of my head. Went away after I stopped taking it. about a year later, I took it again for a couple of weeks and got the same weird numbness. Again, went away after I stopped. I still had the amalgams at the time.

I had all my amalgams replaced in 2018 by a biological dentist. A few months ago, I tried ALA again. So far, I haven’t had any side effects that I can tell.

Pretty sure the 70’’S would only be the amalgams (silver)

I don’t recall anyone from that era getting white ones

Yes, stop taking the lipoic acid immediately and never take any lipoic acid again unless you have your mercury fillings removed and replaced with something safe.

Lipoic acid draws mercury out of your fillings and into your body. More than one person has been harmed by this. Stop immediately. If you continue to have serious issues, look into the mercury chelator OSR. Join the FB group "mercury chelation" for more info.
