Lost Balance - Difficulty Walking

I had balance issues for years. I used a wheelchair whenever I left the house, and couldn't use stairs or walk more than 10 feet without resting or leaning on something, so months went by that I didn't see the first floor of my house except while being half-carried out the door to go to a medical appointment. One doctor told me that because I said I couldn't walk from the waiting room to the exam room that I was being "too dramatic," and others looked disbelievingly at a young person requesting a wheelchair and asking for help. Really demoralizing and scary.

Which sorts of balance issues do you have? I had proprioception issues, dysautonomia, lack of coordination, weakness (sometimes due to deconditioning, sometimes due to myositis, sometimes due to neurological inflammation), mal de debarquement syndrome, vertigo, some days feeling like I was sunken about one foot below the floor level, neurological inflammation, mast cell activation syndrome, and probably some other things I'm forgetting. Issues with balance and dizziness were some of the most limiting and disconcerting issues I dealt with, for sure, and I'm sorry you're going through this!

My child was five years old when I first got disablingly sick, too, and I know it's just heartbreaking not to be able to be the sort of parent you want to be, and to miss out on so much.

The balance issues improved for me as my general condition improved. For "the spins" as I tried to sleep, I found essential oils helpful (lavender, frankincense, peppermint). Treating dysautonomia (salt, restorative yoga) and mast cell activation syndrome (DNRS limbic system retraining, low-histamine diet, curcumin, quercetin) made a huge difference in all of my symptoms. Moving out of a moldy house helped as well, I believe. I treated tick-borne infections with antimicrobial herbal protocols early on for two years, but my condition continued to deteriorate, and I found improvement when I began to address the lasting damage those infections can do instead of the infections themselves.

Have your balance issues worsened since you have started treatment, or improved?

To both of you, I have been on here for years and continually am trying to find a resolution for my continued constant Balance and slurred speech symptoms! I have never had anyone share their experience so close to mine, although I am a female and also in New England; NH.

I had my first symptom over five years ago that led to this nightmare. In May of 2016 I woke up with vertigo that lasted about 2 weeks and then was left with a slight feeling of "off-balance", unaware of Lyme or any other related illness I did not seek medical help. Fast forward 6 months and I awoke to hearing loss (permanent) and the merry-go-round began for almost 2 years with traditional Doctors and Neurologists (3).

Long story short, after an Igenex positive test I treated for nearly 2 years and the balance got worse and I began having mild slurred speech. When I discovered this forum (see my history) at one point when mentioning I was not improving and these symptoms worsened it was suggested I consider Mold? MOLD I thought, and did nothing and kept declining.

Finally last October my LLMD said it is time to test for mold, so I reluctantly agreed. On 12/4/20 I received my results of my urine mycotoxin test and was positive for 3 black molds!

I would like to say that I was relieved to finally have a diagnosis for my symptoms, but that thought quickly changed when I realized it was probably only from one of two places. Either home or work. So just like you I became very afraid of having to tell my employer they would have to test my office (I am the only employee at this location) and I also would have to test my home.

To get to the point, the test results for my office showed I was exposed to severe levels of black mold in my office for almost 10 years due to water damage not properly fixed. I have severe health issues, some may be permanent. I have been working with several LLMD's since and had to stop treating lyme and treat the mold first have taken CSM, Activated Charcoal, bentonite clay, chorella several other binders, supplements, herbs, sauna, etc but still off balance and continued speech problems. Iam also treating nasal with Argentyine 23 and intraconozile sprays.

I recently got an OAT test results and diagnosed and treating for candida albicans and mitrocondria damage. Still no change. I am so afraid this is permenant, others like Astroman tell me they got well in time after treating the candida but I have lost hope.

What all will you be adding to the Dapsone?

I also had balance problems - when standing still, I would sway back and forth.
