Hello there.
I took core protocol herbs for two years. This included andrographis. ( This was about
5 years ago)
I recently restarted core and this time I got the whole body itching rash from andro. Unfortunately I had to stop treatment.
I really liked that herb and was hoping to use it again.
I suppose this means it’s out. Would I be foolish to try again???( don’t want to push luck with allergic reaction)
I guess I will have to dig around in the books💛. I believe it is the most specific antispirocetal and would love to include it.
I’d like to restart full Buchner protocol.
Looking for alternative.
Wish I could use andro.
Anyone else get the rash?

According to Buhner 1% of people do get the rash, he says it can take up to a month to resolve. See here:

if its the allergic reaction that is known to occur in some people with Andrographis -it can be severe -resulting in hives all over the body that can take 3-4 weeks to resolve
also many allergies get worse with each subsequent exposure - eg nut allergies, aspirin allergies etc
so if it were me i would not risk that outcome by retrying
in any case Buhner moved away from Andrographis in his later books and 2nd edition of his original Healing Lyme book - because he said the hoped for anti-spirochaetal activity of Andrographis that was expected in Lyme - based on its use in syphilis - did not materialise clinically.
in his later 2nd edition book he simply says that we lack effective direct anti-spirochaetal herbs - and his protocols instead focus mainly on anti-inflammatory and immune modulating herbs
the main differences are
-the removal of Andrographis and
-the addition of Gou Teng - Uncaria Rhynchophylla hook & stem (for CNS inflammation-something Andrographis was good for)
-the addition of red sage root - Salvia Miltiorrhiza - an "immune Adaptogen" for chronic bacterial infections - endothelia cell protective - liver protective etc
i had taken the core protocol including Andrographis for years without making much progress
i did start to move forward after adding these herbs and also changing to a ketogenic diet around the same time

Thankyou both very very much. I appreciate all the help and guidance.
I will forge on without the andro.
Ps. I was quite well for a year or so when I was on the core protocol years ago (hence was hoping to use same formula) then something changed overnight and along came Neuro symptoms. I have never treated for coinfections so it’s all on the chopping block now.
