Anyone else noticing Petechiae (tiny red spots under skin)?

Hey Lyme Forum,

So sorry I have been so MIA. Thankfully been doing pretty good. I have had some relapse that started about 6 months ago. I am curious how many of you all have dealt with this symptom I noticed today... I was in the shower today and noticed tiny red spots on my chest. More than I've seen for some time. Research makes me believe its petechiae. However, googling petechiae is not a good thing and has sent me spinning a bit. 6 months ago my CBC w/diff was really good and no leukemia or any concerns like that, that petechiae can accompany. I am just wondering if this is a Lyme thing and if any of you have experienced it?

a small number of petechiae on the skin are a common finding on the skin in the general population

tick born infections are also known to cause them

in particular bart and Babesia are known to cause damage to tiny blood vessels in the skin that lead to these characteristic red spots.

i do not think there is any reason to suspect leukaemia based on these

I have lots of these and they increase as I age. No leukemia here. As Garzie said, some co-infections can damage blood vessels, but petechiae are common in the healthy population as well, and rarely a cause for concern unless there are a lot of them suddenly.

I got red spots from lyme and bart, especially when herxing. The bart spots looked more like blisters where the skin would peel. The lyme rash just bled and scabbed over. I also got spots from vitamin C deficiency due to the severe adrenal stress depleting vitamin C. The scurvy spots tended to look more like the bart blisters and also little red dots.

They are likely caused by micro bursts of insulin which can mean a problem with the SUOX gene and a G6PD deficiency. Studying people with mustard gas poisoning is a better way to find the research on it.

People with those spots often have manganese and Vitamin B6 deficiencies as well.

I've got lyme and Bart bt we suspect I have babs. I've heard bart can cause this but mostly babesia . I have some on my arm and stomach just 2 or 3. I got 2 on the palm of my hand and it's the weirdest thing. I remember I used to think I had leukemia when developing the petechiae which is common for leukemia and also I had severe weight loss at the time and other symptoms. No leukemia though because I was tested, and this was before I found out I had lyme or bart.
