Garzie - I watched the You Tube video with Dr, Patterson. The premise seems good. What I struggled with was the technical nature of the conversation. While Lyme is mentioned a number of times, the information seemed more fixed on Long COVID. Maybe I missed something in interpreting what was being said.

For whatever it's worth, my doc had my do Patterson's test. My doc didn't put me on maraviroc, but he did put me on a statin (lipitor). The static did improve my vision, but it also dropped my bp.

Bailey - Didn't you post your results a year or two ago on Patterson test? Think I remember that on a post by Rainy. Had forgotten about it until Garzie brought it up. I may be wrong on that.

Patterson was originally highly focussed on Long COVID as that's what they set out to tackle - but his later work shows a significant number of people - maybe 20% of those tested fit the chronic Lyme pattern and maybe another 20% are in the CFS/ME group - and so these alternate causes of long haul type syndromes are more in his focus now as its clear that a significant portion of the fatigued population and even those walking into clinics with self reported "Long Covid" - actually have chronic lyme and co - or CFS/ME - or some other root cause

this, it seems to me, is a natural chain of events if you set out to tackle something like Long COVID that shares a lot of symptoms with other chronic conditions - and as a result any population reporting to doctors with one will have some of the others in it.

its also in line with what some of our best LLMDs like Horowitz, Dr J, Dr SP etc have been saying - that acute viral infections like covid can cause reactivation of lyme and co - due to immunosuppression. so again that explains why these groups are always going to be mixed.

from their previous publications - they previously tried a lot of drugs for immune modulation - before settling on the Maraviroc and a Statin approach - as that's what they have demonstrated works best in their studies - where they showed both blood test biomarkers an symptoms severity improvements were very highly correlated - ie they developed the theory - they targeted this mechanism with specific drugs - they showed the drugs reduced the offending cytokines as intended - and they showed, clinically in humans, the patients symptoms followed the cytokine reduction

as theories go its quite complete and fits what we know and what we see very well

only time will tell if a large Randomised Controlled Trial will fully ratify their findings so far - but many people will not wait - and they say they have treated 50,000 people already via their clinician network.

i have no skin in the game - so not trying to sell it to you - just trying to explain why i thought it might be of interest

I'm not sure about specifically kidney function but one of my current docs seems to have a broader interest in chronic illness rather than just Lyme. Dr G in San Rafael, CA. He's expensive, but he trains other practitioners in his practice who are cheaper, but still expensive. If he can't help you he seems to be friends with everyone in the academic and alternative health communities so probably can connect you to someone who can. I see him virtually.

I feel you. I've been trying redo budget stuff in hopes the spreadsheet will say something more positive 😭
