Lymphatic drainage experiences with herbs or other treatments?

I did something called the Perrin technique which is a type of lymphatic drainage that I credit as a big part to my recovery previously. I relapsed a couple of years ago which is why I’m here now.

On their website they have a map of practitioners around the world and dr Perrin wrote a book about it which came out a couple of years ago. There are also some YouTube videos where you can learn how to do it on yourself at home which isn’t as beneficial as getting it in person bc it isn’t the full technique but it can still help. I’m planning on starting it again when i’m able to.

Because lymphatic drainage has helped me so much I tried the product ‘lymph activ’ by cellcore which is a combo of herbs for the lymphatic system. I didn’t tolerate it but planning on trying it again at some point!

with the Perrin technique when you first start you can feel worse because it's moving the toxins that were congested through the lymphatic system then they are excreted out of the body but whilst they move through you can feel a lot worse

with the lymph activ I took just a small amount of the capsule bc this is what I always do bc of MCAS

and I felt like an extremely sluggish, sickish, congested feeling, which is how I feel anyway these days because I haven't done the Perrin technique in a long time and I know my lymph system is congested, but it just made it worse than normal. So I can't be sure exactly what happened but you have to be careful because if the drainage points of the lymphatic system are blocked with congested toxins and you try to move your lymphatic system without addressing these blockages you can just move more congestion to the already congested area and make it worse and make you feel worse, which might have been what happened when I took the lymph activ

or it could be that it was actually just moving the toxins out and I felt worse as they moved through my system but on a side of caution I decided to wait until I do the Perrin technique again before restarting the lymph activ because with the Perrin technique I will unblock the drainage points first so they are clear then I can take the lymph activ and get my lymphatic system moving so the toxins will go out through the clear drainage points

does that make sense?

I also feel the way pinkblossom describes when I amp up lymphatic circulation and drainage. Red root herb was too much for me to handle, but I benefitted from very gradually adding in dry brushing, rebounding, massage, self-administered lymphatic massage of the neck, craniosacral therapy (a good practitioner can activate the glymph in the brain as well), and eventually exercise.

I think that all of the things I listed were helpful for me, yes, although I'm not positive that it was because of improvement with lymphatic drainage in particular. (Maybe it was! Just can't be sure.) Many of those practices also relax muscles, increase blood circulation, encourage deep breathing, regulate the nervous system, etc. and that's why I'm such a big fan of bodywork and self-care practices: they all have multiple benefits!

that is good to know Sara about your experience with red root because I'm thinking about trying it at some point, so will start slow!

I also have been doing a zen chi machine which helps with lymphatic drainage, you lay down and put your legs on it and it moves your legs stimulating the lymph, I find it helps with stiffness in my legs and generally feeling better. An alternative is a vibration plate which you do standing up or rebounding that Sara recommended

I tried dry brushing as well but found it difficult to do but will do it again in the future because I think it's very good for the lymphatic system! some other options for your rainycloud

I used red root for a while, but I couldn’t tell anything, though others have found it helpful.

Yes because you have done lymphatic drainage on yourself now the toxins will be moving through the body so it can make you feel worse before you feel better

Drink plenty of water to help and rest

I also find using glutathione and binders reduces how bad I feel after the Perrin technique (lymph drainage treatment) so you could add these into your regime if you don’t have them already to assist alongside the lymph drainage

Uh-oh! Sorry you experienced that, RainyCloud. I started to mention that in my post, but I didn’t quite know how to explain it and didn’t want to scare people away from massage by bringing it up when I really have no personal knowledge.

I do remember hearing somewhere about what pinkblossom mentioned. Lymph is fluid and gravity plays a part. Something about getting the lymph to flow in the right order, but I don’t remember what the right order is.

There may be a video on that YouTube channel that goes into that.

It's probably out of reach with the fatigue etc you have now, but swimming is phenomenal for moving the lymph system as well, as well as exercise in general. Which is well, often out of reach for us right now.

Remember lymph is also affected by gravity.

I think even alternating hot and cold in the shower if you're brave, would move lymph through your system more than normal.

The lymphatic system is kind of like an immunological circulatory system.

In insects, they have a heart/pump thing, different to ours and no blood vessels. They also don't have blood, but haemolymph. Anyway, enough weird trivia from me. lol
