Wow - he does look and sound great!
Phew - it’s been such a worry for his patients.

I saw him for a few years way back in like 2010 era. He had a lot of battles at that time with cancer of his wife and then daughter as well…and it was taking a toll. He was still helping people practically non-stop but he looked and sounded absolutely trashed last time I saw him (over ten years ago). He seems quite selfless and not one to complain about a personal health issue. We may never know.

but its just so strange that there is no mention of what caused the entire previous team to resign....

if it was some kind of misunderstanding you would have thought that could be communicated clearly enough without harming anyone

i like the guy - he strikes me as someone with the best of intentions - and honestly think he is one of the best out there

but that makes it all the stranger, and the lack of straightforward explanation makes it seem like there is something to hide

I'm a skeptical person seemingly by nature and I share your feelings. On one hand, I am happy that Dr. J looks happy healthy and is going to practice again. Rumors of his demise apparently were greatly exaggerated. I'm rooting for him. No doubt he has had a profoundly beneficial impact on many suffering from this horrid disease. (As Girlie can attest!)

But, and this is a huge BUT, there has been zero answers to why his whole clinical staff dipped out on him. This is a clinical staff of some highly respected clinicians. I can personally vouch for Rachel. She was wonderful. This leaves me feeling super uneasy.

Something not understood happened to Jemsek and/or the clinic for months. People are being treated intensively, some with IVs, and were left out in the dust. Personally, I am rooting for Dr. J and, as long as capable, I think people should be able to pursue their passion no matter the age. BUT, Jemsek is in his mid-70s and something happened to him and/or the clinic and they couldn't meet their patients needs. His clinic wasn't set up in a way to continue running when something happened to him. I am no longer interested in going to this clinic after this episode, but, if I was considering them I would want to know that the clinic could continue to run smoothly providing me care no matter the status of Dr. J. If they couldn't provide those assurances I wouldn't go there. Something doesn't sit right with me about the whole situation.

Dr J looked very sick in one of the videos. He hasn't disclosed what he was sick with, but he was apparently too sick to come into the office.

Why the staff had to quit is clear. Dr J was the only licensed MD there. He can hire people to assist, but certain decisions have to go to him. If he is unavailable, then they can't run the practice. This is a legal requirement in the United States.

Ahhh Yes, that’s correct - he had Nurse Practitioners but he was the only Dr.
That does explain why it was closed..
Too bad the patients weren’t given this info.

not wishing to spread baseless speculation - or do the guy down - as, as i said i think he is one of the best

and we discussed the fact that PA's and NP's cannot prescribe without an MD in residence in most states here on the forum some time ago.

so its not odd that it would eventually close - at least for a while - if he was absent for an extended period (there must be provision in the rules for brief illness or absence of physicians)

the thing that is odd, and so far not explained, is that his whole team seemed to resign in unison on day one of whatever happened.

if it was due to his sudden ill health, i guess its possible that they thought it was so serious that he would not be coming back to work - but that doesn't gel with the fact that Dr J himself said that it was something non-life threatening an played down whatever it was.

and again if that's all it was - that wouldn't be hard to articulate

so, for me, it still seems curious

not to criticise - or cast aspersions - i just think they should have addressed it more clearly and avoided all the ill feeling and fallout they are now suffering

in his defence - all of the well recognised LLMD's are getting on in years now - and sudden ill health could grip any one of them - in such cases i think the interruption of patient care would be much the same.
eg with people like Dr H or Dr SP as i think they operate either stand alone or similar models.

That's a fair point. Hopefully he remains in good health and the practice succeeds going forward.
