the fact that yo are not experiencing obvious symptoms is good
its important to understand only a small percentage of ticks are usually carrying lyme disease or other co-infections ( the exact percentage varies from region to region and season to season - but in most published studies is typically less than 10% carrying Lyme - sometimes only 1-2% )
even if the tick was carrying lyme - it is not always transmitted - transmission rates vary a loot depending a number of factors - ticks last meal, how long attached, hosts immune status etc etc
bottom line is most tick bites do not transmit lyme
5 weeks of doxy is a reasonable response if you are concerned - and should reduce the risk of developing lyme significantly
ultimately the hosts immune system status is likely the largest factor determining who will become ill.
so as Sarah says - the more you can do to look after yourself and your immune system in particular - the better.
the one thing i would add to Sara's points for that is the importance of good sleep for the immune system ( both in terms of quality and quality )
all the best!
Thank you Garzie for the reminder that most ticks don’t carry Lyme!
I needed to hear that today.
