Essential Oils for Lyme

Zhang and his team at Johns hopkins has done quite a bit of work on this - and the evidence is pretty good that essential oils are active for lyme and co-infections

the main ones that are tested are
-oregano
-cinnamon
-clove

oregano in particular seems to be active for all three B's

but many others likely have some activity

the key thing is to use essential oils that are:
a, of known concentration ( sadly many, even those labelled as pure or undiluted are actually diluted in a carrier oil - as consumers cannot tell the difference)
b, of a quality specifically intended for human ingestion - rather than aromatherapy / oil burners etc

also be aware of the potent effects vs conventional antibiotics:
a few drops of a true undiluted essential oil can cause a herx reaction much stronger than full dose antibiotics

just different methods of extraction and purity

the best ones are steam distilled rather than solvent extracted - and organic would be my preference - since PFAS ( forever chemicals ) are a major components of pesticides - and if used on the herb - these will likely be concentrated by the extraction process into the product -

but the problem is there is no regulation so they can print whatever they like on the bottle / add and no-one holds them to account

i am in the UK also and have just had to do trial and error to find a good product

but they would not disclose how much actual essential oil there was in it vs carrier oil - which i took to mean not very much - and i don't like that kind of lack of transparency so i ditched it

i have tried 3 or 4 different brands and it is the only one i have tried that i think is actually pure essential oil - no carrier oil / dilution

its approx 5x as strong as the branded product above and half the price
(Note- do not use it undiluted - burned my mouth for days - put 1 drop on a spoon - then add a spoonful of olive oil and take them together )

it seems most essential oil companies make the rest of the supplement business look honest by comparison!

I think I will try the oregano oil you mentioned, how do you know it’s stronger than the other one you tried?

And thanks Sara for your response, that’s good to know, do you know how to make them liposomal? Or is that something I can look up easily online?

Greg lee makes them liposomal but you'd have to go see him and he's expensive as f.

the main benefit of liposomal essential oils is you can use lower doses if they are liposomal for the same / similar effect

some people find they can be a bit hard on the gut - so in those cases it could help

but overall its not necessary - i just make sure to dilute them in a carrier oil before taking them - eg a few drops in a tablespoon of olive oil works fine - or in Black seed oil as i was already taking that.

i still had to go super slow and steady on the doses to manage herx so it was plenty powerful enough !
