What book or guide would you recommend to a newb for making tinctures?
Buhner's lyme books tend to have pretty good info in them regarding the herbs, the tincture ratios and what alcohol content is needed
everything after that is general tincture making / not specific to lyme herbs
main principles are:
1, use as finely divided herbs as possible ( powder or use blender if cut herb is all that is available ) - greater surface area results in greater extraction
2, keep them somewhere cool and dark for the time the herbs are soaking in the menstruum ( liquid)
shake vigorously to mix the in-process tinctures daily
3, allow 4 weeks before straining the tincture
4, use only fine undyed cotton cloth to strain the tincture ( avoid microplastics, dyes etc from synthetics)
5, keep finished tinctures in brown bottles or in the dark - in a cool place ( light degrades many active components )
there are probably good youtube videos on making tinctures also - but i have not looked
just be a bit wary as some people seem misinformed on things like alcohol ratios, doses etc - so i would stick with Buhner for that.
hope its of some help
