If you suffer from GERD and gastritis, and take ibuprofen regularly for pain, then it seems urgently important to find a replacement medication for the pain. Ibuprofen should not be taken by people with GERD, and I believe it even says that on the bottle. If you can't tolerate any other pain medication for headaches and pain, or find another way to treat headaches and pain, then be sure to take ibuprofen on a completely full stomach. Keep taking whatever helps to protect your stomach and esophageal lining while you figure this out.
GERD remedies: oral cromolyn sodium, D-limonene, famotidine, Pepto Bismol, potato juice, aloe vera juice, dietary changes, food and drink time limits, posture and sleep changes, addressing any dietary sensitivities or allergies, addressing mast cell activation syndrome (if applicable), no carbonated beverages or coffee or alcohol, addressing H. pylori infection, glutamine, manuka honey, probiotics, enzymes, chamomile, bitters, licorice (DGL), apple cider vinegar, zinc carnosine, slippery elm, and addressing perimenopause issues (as hormonal shifts can cause LES laxity).
I hope you find relief soon!
I learned about
that GERD-ibuprofen connection the hard way.

Would it be helpful to do a search or start a new thread for pain and headache remedies, in case you'd like to stop taking ibuprofen?
Neurologists might have many other recommendations aside from gabapentin, depending on your symptoms. I have seen neurologists many times and have never been told to take gabapentin.
