Hello fellow Lymies, I present this question as a late 50’s long time member here even though its not related.
The APOE gene gets all the news, but thats not even the bad one. And im all clear in that gene (double green negative).
However I have :
1)two different dreaded APP (double red positive) genes
And
2) one PSEN1 (Double red positive) gene (bad)
Googling the above, says I’m screwed. Yes Google it you will see.
Early onset dementia, and or Alzheimer’s has some symptoms that overlap with tick and thyroid diseases (have those). i’ve also hit my head with and without a helmet in outdoor sports several times in my life. It’s impossible to say what might be causing the symptoms on the bottom of this post.
This is the first time I’ve mentioned this to anyone ever in my life. A past functional Dr (who knew 23 and Me gene testing) chose not to inform me of these, skipping them altogether (probably not too upset patients ).
I found them on my own about
six years ago, while google reviewing my eight page gene report that has approximately 400 genes. (I went all the way and paid for the big report from a different company using 23 and me data).
Had manageable memory issues for 20 years. In the last two years, I’ve started to slur sometimes, and have word search issues daily. Talking I need to plan my sentences ahead if time if under pressure at work.
Ive been very physically active doing many outdoor activities my entire life except for one year of mobility issues when lyme was really bad, blazing a trail , no matter what the season. (Retired from semipro athletics, late 30’s). I will always choose to be outside versus laying on the couch except when health slows me down. This is apparently good for brain circulation.
I can’t ask for advice on this, but I’m just wondering if you were in my shoes,… what would you do?
This is not something I can just go to a conventional doctor with because it’ll go down into my medical history, which will become an insurance problem. I don’t need another problem right now.
Thank you
