which malaria med should i choose? tafenoquine, malarone or coartem

hey hey, so im making slowly progress with rifabutin, its really hitting me hard, but im also getting every day more energy. But i still have the feeling babesia is holding me a bit back. There are some symptoms they just dont change or even get worse. So i asked my llmd if we maybe could at quensyl. (thought its a good idea, took already for years, and its quite comon because it treateds cyst forms, biofilms and babesia) So my llmd answered me we also could use tafenoquine, or coartem or Malarone. (he is quite open for suggestions) So first i thought ah ok tafenoquine, maybe thats a good idea. Its kind of similiar to quensyl, but you dont have the qt trouble, and you dont have the interlektin 17 problem. (i have psoraris and quensyl can trigger it) But then i also bit concered about getting resistants if you dont use it with Malarone/mepron. So im not sure about that one. I dont wanna use malarone because i read it quite often if you use it single or not in a good combination you can get resistant to babesia. (so just use with azi and tafenoquine by exampel) And with coartem i have no idea. I dont find so much information about it, because most people just treat bab or babs seperated. Does it make sense to give it a try with a malaria med like tafenoquine? Or is it smarter to treat bart a bit more and maybe going on a full babesia protocol. Thanks you all!

The problem that I had with malarone was the anti-folate effect of proguanil. This is especially a problem if you have MTHFR deficiency. I didn't have this issue with mepron, but I found that mepron (atovaquone) hits bartonella, so I herxed from that.

I didn't try coartem, but I herxed from artemisinin, and I suspect it hits borrelia.

I did get some suspected psoriasis, flaky skin on my forehead. This has resolved with treatment of borrelia. I'm not sure if babesia can trigger that, but for me, borrelia did.

@girlie thank you, i know jemsek love to treat it first, but also as we disscussed in another thread the american babesia is quite more resistant then divergen or others. And rifabutin is starting for me to work well, and you never wanna change a winning team ;) but i have it in my mind and if i will have strong herx or reaction on tafenoquine i will probably shift my protocoll to babesia and will jump on bart after it.
@quin thanks for the nice information. Lindner also suggest Mepron for malarone because its less side effects. And i didnt even know that it has some effect on bart too. I have psoriaris quite bad, some people say bart could be an trigger of psoraris. i think its the mix of too much immun response.

I'm curious where you would get tafenoquine and how expensive it would be. From what I've heard, it can be had in the US but is super expensive. I've only found Primaquine overseas. I've used Mepron and Coartem but not Tafenoquine or Primaquine yet.

Ok yeah, I'm seeing it 16 tablets for over $250. But perhaps that's not too bad considering it's not taken every day. It pulled up under Krintafel.

yes is aroun 280 euro in belgien. Depens how much you take but my friend takes 300mg once a week. So my psorias started when i was 25. I have lyme since 18. So it was not straight coming with lyme, i had it first time after a lot of abx and quensyl treatment. I think its quite hard to say, where it comes from. could be the mix of all the infections... less symptoms less psorias....

i checked Indiamart in case they had it - but it doesn't look like they have any good sources

often the case with meds that are approved in some western countries but not worldwide

@quin, yes quin its crazy how much herxheimer triggerin my psoriasis, since im on rifabutin, its the worst i ever had.... but yes i would also say it get trigger from the infections, and will also calm down with less immune response
