Sounds like taking the antibiotics was absolutely the right choice to resolve the pneumonia. It's possible that you are herxing, but it's also possible that your immune system is just in disarray from the activation caused by a serious infection. With chronic infections, even once we're in remission, our bodies can be hyper-reactive to immune system activation, and don't always know when to turn back off after a threat has passed. It's possible that your body just needs some time, and maybe some help, to return to its baseline.
Have you considered support to quell an overactive immune response, like curcumin, quercetin, NAC, resveratrol, green tea, glutathione, probiotics, etc.?
It's great that you are rolling with this mentally and emotionally, and not allowing nervous system dysregulation to destabilize you further. It's so easy to worry and make things worse! I think most of us fall into that trap, understandably. Those signals of safety can help prevent your body from sliding into dorsal vagal shutdown and cell danger response. Do what you can to get rest, reduce stress, and get all the help you can with your kids!
