Garzie I need microscope help

Clearing out my que of side projects.. Back to the the live blood analysis.

I have a swift compound. I can get the 4x and 10x to focus fine on my blood but at 40x I seem to be unable to get a focus on anything? Same went for 100x w/ oil so I went back to working on getting the 40x to work.

No clue what I'm doing wrong?

let me know how you are preparing the slide - or post photos and i am sure i can offer some more input

ah, that's clearly not right

although the focal plane should be very close to the same from one objective to the next - as a design feature of the scope - you will see the objective lens lengths do vary and the objective lens will approach the slide much more closely the higher the magnification - but should never touch it before reaching focus.

how have you prepared the slide you are looking at

just got back to working on it tonight. Thanks for the check in

as for the slide thickness - i was using a bad sample object to test with. I can now get the 40 to rotate without hitting but there's next to no room to rotate.

I can go from 4x to 10x and understand how it's not much of a turn to get back into focus.. I still can't manage to get the 40x to focus though.. i get some color and then like half a rotation and back into the glass slide.

I feel like it's something simple but no clue what
