i treated for several years with buhner herbs and then used antibiotics
initially just the basic buhner lyme herbs - knotweed, cats claw, Andrographis
after little progress i found i also had bartonella - and added more lyme herbs from his 2nd edition healing lyme book - and then more herbs for bartonella - together with enzymes for fibrin - like bromelain
together with switching to ketogenic type whole foods diet ( bart was causing me a lot of gut symptoms), working on sleep and starting an exercise program this helped move me forward - but i was a tough case and this only got me to around 50% recovered where i plateaued or was moving forward only very very slowly.
so for the last year and a bit i have added a pulsed regime of antibiotics to the above herbal regimen - and as a result have moved forward more rapidly since doing so - am now at about 70% recovered with the prospect of full recovery and return to employment on the horizon for the first time in my 10 year journey.
i did not see any reason to stop the herbal protocol that had clearly been helping me recover to 50%.
all the functional medicine type dogma out there scared me away from using antibiotics - for fear of damaging my gut - but if anything my digestion has been better since starting antibiotics not worse - and more recent research show gut bacteria will be back to where they were before antibiotics after about 12 months - probably sooner with better than the average western diet - so i believe the scaremongering is more fashion than substance. besides lyme and bartonella are serious diseases that apart from being chronic and life limiting - can result in fatal complications - so if ever there was a case for using antibiotics - this is it.
I hope its of some help
all the best
Thanks!
I am 100% for natural treatment but I feel that it will not lead me to remission after so many years of trying. I’m off any herbs since November and I don’t see any difference anymore so I believe that herbs did what they could already.
I've actually also been on various diets including keto, but I am underweight and could not continue due to weight loss. So now I only keep a gluten-free and sugar-free diet (and limit dairy).
It seems that I've really done everything that a normal person can do - diets, daily detox (I even bought an infrared sauna to have at home), sleep, exercise, tons of books and supplements…
Hopefully abx wouldn’t destroy my gut, at least I will do everything to try to prevent that
