earlier in my illness when diagnosis was the main issue i did a comprehensive exercise in MS excel to try to pin down which infection was causing my illness based on symptoms

i had an unfair advantage over most people - in that both my partner at the time an i became ill with the same symptoms at the same time - so excluding an environmental toxin of some kind - which we tested for as far as we could - it was clear it was an infection and we had n=2 rather than n=1 that most individuals have - ie only themselves.

there were maybe 50 symptoms total which i scored for each infection - then added up totals and calculated % of fit for each infection - doing this for both my partner and i

i had hoped this would point clearly to one infection or another - but inpractice - even doing it with this kind of ultimate rigor - there is so much overlap and so few symptoms that are truly unique to each illness it could only deliver vague hints at what was going on

essentially the fit for bartonella, borrelia, mycoplasma and babesia were all over 90%

later i found that i did indeed have lyme and bartonella and likely mycoplasma via testing - so this is perhaps one explanation for the lack of differentiation

i just mean to pass on that in the real world symptom patterns are very nuanced with around 90% overlap between infections and only very minor differences - so its not at all clear cut like many symptoms lists found online tend to suggest - and the be aware that chronic cases usually seem to have multiple infections so its also important not to fall into binary thinking of "its either X or its Y"
its best to be prepared going in to the process.

Thanks for responding but unfortunately none of those are the list I had seen. I believe someone here in the forum had either made this list themselves or copy and pasted, but I feel like I remember someone commenting to them and thanking them for all the work they had put into it. Gosh, who knows where it is. It was most likely years back and I just happened to stumble upon it when I was searching for something else. I’ll keep looking and if I run across it, I’ll be sure to come back and provide the link.
