I just HAD to reply to this post.
hopingToFindCure - What you wrote is only partially true. Yes, IC is when you feel like you have an UTI all the time. Tests show negative but broth cultures show positive for different strains of bacteria for some. The rest is related to Bartonella causing urinary symptoms. Yes, some antibiotics can trigger an IC episode, also because they cause yeast and that aggravates IC symptoms.
But, no that's not true that it will "go away on it's own with plenty of water and cranberry capsules". I've had this for almost 7 years now and cranberry capsules are the worse thing an IC patient can eat because it is acidic and that irritates the bladder just like spicy food would. In the beginning, before I came about forums, I was taking cranberry capsules everyday, several of them and thinking why isn't it helping me, but I was doing it completely wrong and realised when I found a support site that cranberry only makes symptoms worse and it's on avoid food list. Plenty of water is a must especially for those on antibiotics to "flush out" the dead bacteria and dilute the urine as much as possible because acidic urine contributes to pain!!!
Will reply to you Sulma, in abit. Thank you for responding to my post.
Does anyone have any bladder and Lyme friendly recipes to share. I'd like to try baking a chicken.
