Any one else get a sudden onset of noise sensitivity?

Hi WW: I have the same problem and I am taking NO meds so I would say it is a Lyme symptom. Things are often too loud for me and there are days when a noise, such as the phone ringing will make me jump! Crazy huh? D

Yes yes yes yes yes!!! This is a known Lyme symptom. Drives me nuts having a pump running next to me 24/7 with the TPN because of noise sensitivity. All my senses are hyper-acute as well...I seem to be the only one who can smell stuff that just about knocks me out and everyone else around me is scratching their heads because they can't smell anything.
When applied to hearing, super sensitivity is called Hyperacusis. There is a support group for it: http://www.hyperacusis.net/hyperacusis/home/default.asp

I suspect neurotoxins released by the Lyme are more likely to blame...but who knows, and perhaps the neurotoxins can cause brain damage if they aren't detoxed...I really don't know.  I know Lyme puts out a lot of ammonia, which is a known neurotoxin (I can smell the ammonia in my sweat, so I know I have too much ammonia, and it gets worse when I try to do anything to combat the Lyme unless I'm taking Milk Thistle).  My hearing seems to fluctuate between "normal" and hyper-acute, or is only hyper-acute for certain types of sounds.  So strange...
