What do you guys know about tkng antibiotics thn going off thm to up antibodies to gt a pos test

I have read that seronegative patients go positive after antibiotics . I ask because my western blot was set for monday this week. I couldnt do it because another doc gave me a brain MRI and they injected me w contrast so i decided that it would effect my western blot. I will be getting it next mon due to having to get it to igenex early in the week. So I thought I am soposed to begin my doxy after i take my test. I wondered if taking like two pills would cause the bugs to stir and antibodies to be produced..... What do you guys think?

Hello, V! Actually, this is on my list to ask my Dr when I finally get to see him. Because, I have read in more than one source that many people who are not sero positive, become positive after being on abx for a short time. I do not remember the time frame, but I'm pretty sure it was more than 2 pills.

i was on 5 days dixy 1 month b4 i have my WB. its was positive for IGM. if u lesion to the audio intervue of Dr. J it stated that in the pee test it worked better after abx. the more die off there is to show up. btw i had my MRI w/contrast right b4 my WB test.. all b4 i know anything about lyme really. still dont really. hope this helped any at all

I heard him say this too. I just dont know if I should do it or not but the fact that this happened for you could explain why you have a test showin that you had a new infection

my way of thinking is its better to show any kind of infection then to show negitive when ur not. i hear a lot of fals negitives but no one is saying they tested a fales positive

Bump too. Because I have read both:

You must be free of abx before taking WB test.

Some WB tests that were previously negative become positive after a certain amount of abx treatment.

We need to find an answer on this!

Well, I did a 10 day treatment of 1500mg of Amoxicillian two weeks before my WB and still had a negative but had a load of IND's. I think I read that you have to be on treatment for a while for this to happen. I also read that you should get off of all antibiotics before taking the test.

So, long antibiotic treatment but getting off before the test. In my opinion, I don't think 5 days will do much.

Yeah I had mino in april from infectious disease. so maybe that will help for next monday, I was soposed to get it last monday but my neurologist scheduled me for a brain MRI with a contrast injection which I wasnt aware would happen or I would have just got my Western Blot.
- The darn MRI showed nothing the stupid words NORMAL even though my brain is clicking and swishing more than it ever has AHHHHHHHH! Keeping me upjust dancing in my head!!!!!!!!!! I need a spect. Or something to diagnose this.
-I agree w you all it is up in the air w conflicting information
-So hopefully since I had abx in april it will have made it go up enough.
-We will see.
