I was recommended by a local neurologist and then by my current neurologist/Lyme doctor(who is believed to be one of the best LLMDs in the country) to do an EMG/NCS in order to find out the extent of my neuropathy(which they already knew I had from their in office diagnosis), and reluctantly, I had the procedure done this past Friday. The actual test itself was not fun, but bearable, and it did reveal amongst some other mild/moderate findings in my upper extremities, that I have severe neuropathy in my legs. My problem is today(3 days later) my symptoms are much worse-under my right knee?calf is much more painful than it already was, and my right foot is basically numb(not this bad before-making it difficult to walk). My hands are trembling-I can hardly write something-never like this before, and I am having tingling feelings in spots I have never had before. I asked both doctors several times beforehand, if there is any possibility that this procedure could make my nerves worse, and they both emphatically said NO-in fact my local neurologist said TODAY that it cant be from the EMG/NCS-she had the audacity to have her assistant tell me that I would have to speak about this with my current neurologist/Lyme doctor who ordered the test-(she wouldn't even come to the phone). The only one to tell me not to take the test was my other LLMD-who is a Chinese Herbalist and acupuncturist. I am REALLY hoping that this test, which is SUPPOSED to help me did not make my condition permanently worse.
Any thoughts opinions/suggestions would really be welcomed at this point.
Best,
