Hi all-
I am on mepron/zithro 6 weeks then off for 2 weeks. If my herx usually takes place between the 3-4 week on treatment, then when I am off for the 2 weeks and that is the expected time to herx if it happens is it a herx or the Lyme cycle because I wouldn't be on any meds that could produce a die off? Does this make sense?

Now that I am off meds for 4 days my symptoms are slowly creeping up again. Shooting pains,twitches, etc? Does this mean I am failing treatment? I feel the best about a week after being on meds that lasts about 2 weeks, then all the crap starts.

Any input would be great. Thank you

I don't really know. I would think that if you are not on any meds and you feel worse, then it is your symptoms returning. Perhaps you can change your schedule so that you are on the meds during the time you expect a herx cycle. I herx every four weeks and for me it occurs with the full moon.

Hi Lovelabs.  I am curious why your doctor is pulsing the Mepron and Zithromax this way.  These meds treat the co-infection Babesiosis, but Zithromax can also be effective for Lyme.  What doses of each are you taking?

Many people who have Babesiosis herx every three weeks.  I think it will be difficult to tell if you are herxing or having an increase in symptoms until you have documented your symptoms for several weeks.

You may want to talk with your doctor about this to see if this is what he/she expected to happen.

Ticker- I am on 250 twice a day of zithro and 2 tsp a day of mepron. I have just finished 4 and a half months of this combo. With the 2 week break in between the 6 weeks. I usually do herx around week 3ish. Looking back at my symptom chart, the past two 2 week breaks(this and the last one) I have felt more symptoms. I do feel better on meds that is for sure. Just was curious if the Lyme cycles even off meds.

I am so not new to all of this but I always think things are going one way and then symptoms come back. I just get discouraged. I have a ton to talk to my doc about my next appointment. Just wondering I guess after 7 months of treatment when I am off abx I still feel no real strides. I am so much better than I was last year. I have more energy, the pain is not as intense and I can use my hand again. I just think I lose patience sometimes and forget the improvements that I have made. Par for the course. Just needing a bit of encouragement I guess.
