No, I am not pregnant!lol. But, I have to make some very important decisions regarding my future fertility, so I need to know...is lyme passed from mother to child?

It can be passed from mother to child. I waited till I was symptom free and stayed on antibiotics during pregnancey and breastfeeding. So far we have a healthy one and a half year old little girl. I stopped my antibiotics and poof it all came back again back at square one maybe two.

I'm still learning, so I hope you don't mind if I ask you, when you went off of antibiotics and your symptoms returned, were you retested and did you test positive? And, if you got back onto antibiotics, did you then feel better? Thanks.

I have a perfectly healthy 20 month old who has tested negative twice. I will continue to check as she grows, but I saw not only my ob, but a high risk ob and my lyme dr all said that the risk of passing it on is very small. If you take the right precausions you will be ok. I have had lyme since 1998 and was on abx when I found out I was pregnant. You will likely be put on amox, throughout your pregnancy just to decrease any risk of passing it on, but I wouldn't let it stop you from having children. My daughter is perfect in every way and had I planned to wait until I never felt sick again, she wouldn't be here and I am thankful she is healthy.

Good luck. I am thinking of having another baby in the next year as well.

This is wonderful to hear!! I Have had Lyme for the past four years. My wife is now seven months pregnant. I have been very worried about possibly passing this to my wife, and daughter. I'm so happy to hear your daughter is healthy, and happy!!!

Thanks everyone. But, isn't it not safe to be on medication during pregnancy? Couldn't this risk the baby's immune system? So, basically there is a pretty good chance of this happening? I just could not take that risk. I would never be able to bring a child into this world knowing that they could feel like I do because of me. Crap. This sucks.
