I found the 'classic' bulls-eye rash a few weeks back and went to a dr--who said take 10 days of doxycyline. After the 10 days (it did not agree with me but I took them as best I could, but vomited a couple times after taking them). Anyway, I then went for a blood test and the nurse at the doctors office said it came back negative. To be honest, based on what I have read at the CDC site and other forums it seems that the test should have been quite a bit more comprehensive to be sure and others say 10 days is not enough to kill it. Fortunately I have had no other symptoms except for the bulls-eye, but it is still early on and I would like to go to a dr that will run a more thorough test to be sure. I am amazed that since NJ and PA are a hot-bed for this disease that we are not flooded with specialists or doctors who are well-versed with this bacteria. It almost seems that most are 'under-cover', which doesn't give me a 'warm and fuzzy' feeling. I would appreciate any recommendations, that are not in a dark alley. thx!
