hubby got a call today from our Health Department

He was surprised to answer his cell and receive this call. While I can't get a clear gist of the conversation, as he is being vague and probably having some foggy thinking, what I can pull out of him is that he is "registered" as having lyme disease by a letter from his doctor. I am assuming he was asked "how did you get lyme disease" or "how do you think you got lyme disease" because he tells me that he told the lady he got lyme disease "at work." Now, I don't mean to sound funny or pick on the poor fella, but that reasoning makes no sense to me. I asked him did she ask what he meant...did he say where he worked he occasionally is outside and there are deer in the area? His response to that was "I didn't really don't care...I told the lady if she wants to talk to you, she can call you." The lady calling must have had quite a run-around with him. Anyhow, we did not know he would be "reported" and "registered" and now we assume that information will be passed on to the CDC for tracking locations of lyme incidences in our state, not that they care about curing it from what I read everywhere. Ah, the frustration begins, huh? Anyone else here get that phone call?

I wish we all got that phone call as that would mean we were all "reported" cases cause I'm sure most of us aren't. The CDC doesn't like reported cases.

She's report of having lyme , and where did
She think she got it .

I got that phone call, but that was two years ago!! There is no way I could ever remember what was said, as my memory has been like chicksinger's hubby for quite a while now!!

Humm , what state r u in , Chick. If he got it on job then it may be covered going out on disability. Maybe a law suit.? Why not? Other guys may be in danger too. All outdoor workers should get protection.

@ bucci ....he works INSIDE. That is why his response was so weird to me.

That work is 45 minutes from home, and he has seen the occasional deer on the highway there, and has had occasion to, for instance, move some boxes outdoors at his work, his response that he got it at work--on those occasions when he was outside--when asked off the cuff in an unexpected phone call is, to me, a most unusual thought process on his part. Hey, how's THAT for a run-on sentence? I asked him how he came to that conclusion--he said after thinking about it--"it had to be at work...if there's deers, there's ticks." That's why I figured he gave that caller a run for her money!

We are clueless as to the when and where, truly. He could have gotten it in our yard from what I've been reading all over the internet.

I got the call from the Health Department too. They said it was the Lab had directed the Dr office to contact the Health Dept and from there the CDC.
