9 a.m. got the answering machine; left message and my work number.
4:30 p.m. called to leave hubby's cell - reception (?) answered.
To make a long, strange conversation shorter, the basics are:
You cannot get an appointment.
You come in during specified hours/days and give blood. This costs $419 up front, plus $800 for "up to 2 hours" with the doctor, IF the doctor accepts you as a patient.
The entire conversation was me pulling information out of the gal.
The doc doesn't accept insurance, so $1,119 up front and MAYBE you'll get an appt. with the doctor.
I said we had the blood tests already, he was diagnosed with lyme. That was the first time I mentioned lyme. I was told he should bring his results with him and the doc will refer to them when the "current" results return.
I didn't ask if the $800 was refunded if you aren't accepted as a patient.
I'm floored.
I called the GP and told the nurse that the Infec. Dis. dr. never returned the call and requested a referral to someone who will treat lyme. She will get back to hubby.
Has anyone had success requesting a GP to do the co-infection testing?
Hubby is going to ask the cardiologist for a referral to a lyme doc as well.
I have a sinking feeling we're going to have to "go underground" to treat this, at an expense to ourselves, which we really cannot afford...but if you don't have your health, you have nothing.
This totally sucks.
