Need encouragment about IV Rocephin...

I'm suppose to be starting it next week. But sometimes i listen to too many different stories about it causing gallstones (even though i know that is what actigall is for) or having a relapse of only 30 days of it...

I caught my disease within a month after symptoms started so i was hoping maybe i might be a lucky one to feel like "myself" again with the rocephin because i know it helped some people with that...

 i also needed to know how far into the 30days should i start flagyl cyst buster?... In your opinion do you think because i caught it early i'll be fine? im currently only taking doxy 200mg until i start it

Hi Lymie, welcome to the forum, but sorry you have to be here.

I was just on IV Rocephin during December and January. Yes I was on Actigall but still got gallstones and lost my sense of taste for 2 months. Although, it was totally kicking Lyme butt!!! So I say give it a shot. Stay on the Actigall, drink tons of water and going on an all veggie diet would really help your gallbladder. And drink lots of apple juice.

Rocephin works so good on Lyme its worth a try. Even if only for one month. Then there's other IV meds to use if needed.

Typically speaking, the shorter time of infection, the shorter time of treatment. But keep in mind everyone responses to treatment differently. I've heard some doctors say that treatment lasts about have the time you've been infected. One of my Lyme friends was infected (with symptoms) for 10 years. Shes just now stopping her 5th year of treatment. And she's doing awesome by the way!!! There is life after Lyme!!

In my opinion (I'm not a doctor) you should always be on some type of cyst buster. Other wise how is the antibiotic going to get in to kill the Lyme? And your doxy dose is too low. You should be on at least 400mg daily.

I'm impressed you are starting IV meds already. Are you having severe neuro symptoms?

Thank you for that. Majority of my symptoms are in my head so thats why the Dr wants to see if all of this is from Neuro lyme or if i have bart also that causes neuro symptoms. Its really confusing. I tried going up to 300mg of Doxy but i couldnt handle it because it was giving me horrible panic attacks... which i know probably meant is was working but it was unbarable

Hi Lymie, I took 28 days IV Rocephin. Doxy did not do the trick. For me, (speaking about ME) my smptoms have decreased. I do have better days. I do not experience as much severe achiness. Again, personal experience. Do like me, try not to adhere to all negative comments. They have confused me.

You, like everyone else, has a different make-up. We're all different. I hope this is a bit of encouragement.

I'm not 100%, I may need more treatment because I've been ill a long time. We are waiting for now. This is my decision and we all have our own takes on it.

I was just diagnosed in Jan 2011. I've learned a lot on Lyme sites. People are experienced, and it's also been a source of wonderful support and encouragement to me.
