I had a baby 3 years ago - my pregnancy was terrible too but not sure it was lyme related. I had my baby tested at birth (you can actually test the core blood), but I had her tested at birth in the hospital, again at her 6 month check-up and again at 1 year. She is a perfectly healthy 3 year old and I am not pregnant with my 2nd. I am having a horrible time this time around too, but plan to have the baby tested again at birth. I am sure he/she will be just fine, but it's good for peace of mind.
I have a great llmd that will follow me through pregnancy, but other than taking amoxicillin there isn't much you can do. I was told in my last pregnancy that the risk of passing it along is very small. I was told this by 3 doctors' including a high risk specialist that I was under care of too.
Pregnancy can actually make your lyme symptoms go away. I felt great after giving birth to my daughter. My symptoms started to return about 10 months after, but I am looking forward to feeling great again in about 8 more months...ugh!
Congrats on your pregnancy as well. And just ask your dr to either test the core blood or have your baby tested at birth. I also only did the western blot test. I also tested myself at her 6 month check-up and it was completely negative. I think it has a lot to do with hormones. For whatever reason those pregnancy hormones make the lyme dormant for a period of time .
