Rash on chest (not bullseye) -- herx reaction? allergic reaction? or something else

I've noticed recently a red, "blotchy" sort of rash on my chest. Has anyone else had this kind of herx reaction? Or is it maybe an allergic reaction to abx? I'm not sure what's going on here. I have an appointment in 8 days to see the LLMD doc, so I'm wondering if I should just wait or see someone else in the meantime.

Rash can be an allergic reaction to abx-- what are you on?

If an LLMD prescribed the abx, I would call him/her instead of waiting 8 more days for your appointment.

I never got a rash from a herx....but that's just me.

I too deal with a rash on my forehead now and then but have dealt with sudden odd rashes over the years with lyme. I would either call your doctor or even ask the pharmacist about the abx. you are on.

I get rashes of different kinds from time to time, more now that I'm in treatment. What I do to help identify what may be causing the rash is to use Google Images to do a search. I enter the search term "rash on chest, lyme" you would be surprised how many pics will come up! It's hard to tell from a google img search.

I have no pain or itching from the ratch. I've been on abx for about a month so wouldn't it have happened earlier if it was an allergic reaction??

I have a feeling it's either herx-related or maybe some sort of fungal infection? Just guessing. I think I'll wait another week for when I see the LLMD. The "regular" docs I've seen don't seem to help with much at all. :/

The worst and most worrying symptom I have is perpetual chest pain. I got ultrasounds/echograms and all that stuff and apparently my heart and whatever is "fine" but... it's definitely not something "normal..."

If the rash doesn't itch or is painful, its probably ok to wait til your appt.
Watch and keep track of the size and color. If it's bothering you, call the LLMD. Allergic reactions can show up at anytime, even months after you've stopped a medicine. If you've been on doxy or levaquin type drugs and have been in the sun, it could be from that.

I get really bad itchy lobster red rashes on my hands sometimes. It's thought to be from Zinc and biotin deficiency. I use triamcinolone cream on it which really helps. And pop mega doses of zinc and P5P50 for several days then stop.

When you herx, your body is trying to dump all the dead bacterial matter in your body; detox. One of the detox pathways is through the skin, hence the rashy looking blotches. Your body will eventually get rid of it or reabsorb it. Make sure to are doing some sore of detox bath. It will help and feel good. It may make it start itching though.

The Dr told me it was "eczema." Which seems to be some sort of general skin rash. I also switched my abx and added a lot of supplements. He said it wasn't an allergic reaction to abx.
