Hi All,
I though I would start a new thread with this info, as so many seem to be told to see an ID doc. Before I learned much about this set of infections, I mistakenly though the same thing - made sense, right? Infections, see an Infectious Disease Doc!! Well, not always!!

...and it also doesn't mean you shouldn't see one.  If you are armed with the right information and ask questions, they may be quite useful.  If there is one thing I know it's that with complicated situations like Lyme, it's important to see advice from all avenues - even those that you may not agree with.  A well rounded research method will lead to positive results.

As I have said many times before this - there are always exceptions to the rules. I wouldn't suggest anyone with TBI's go to someone where their best interest isn't #1 on the menu, but, of course, I sure can't stop anyone who wishes to see an ID doc.

I saw a top ID doc many, many months ago. After I did not recover from his prescription of 500 mgs. of Amox-- 2 x day for a month--- he dropped me like a hot potato. Just my experience.

The ID doctor I saw seemed to think ticks and Lyme Spirochetes knew where state boundaries were and would not cross into another state... He also seemed to think that a CDC positive Western Blot was falsely positive because of cross reactivity with some other infection...when asked what it was cross reacting with, he could not come up with an answer. I never went back...

We should all be educated on ANY illness before seeing any Dr. for anything. They are not perfect just like us.

My feathers tend to get alittle ruffled when I read of those who feel only LLMD should be seen.

I can not afford to. I will be seeing a ID because of insurance and money limits.

But you can bet I will be as educated on Lyme as I can be.

My Rhmy and GP have already more or less washed their hands of me as far as treatment for the Lyme goes.

Don't get me wrong, if you can go to a LLMD and afford to pay out on pocket, I'm happy for you.

Please don't make the rest of us feel like we are doomed by going in a different avenue.

We all need to be supported no matter what treatment we choose.

That's exactly why I posted this!! We all need to be sure we learn as much as possible about these infections, but if you have to see an ID doc, I want you all to be aware of what you are facing!! It most definitely does not mean that I won't respect your choices or support your treatment!!

Look at it this way - I don't see an LLMD. I use an Acupuncture Doc and Chinese Medicine and some Western Herbs. I have to be as knowledgeable as I can about not only what infections I have, but what herbs I'm being prescribed too!

I want this to be a site where all healing modalities are accepted and supported. If a member doesn't understand something about a healing modality, they should feel free to respectfully ask questions about it, and should get respectful answers in return. We need to make this a learning opportunity for all.

I thought it ridiculous that an infectious disease dr. would not know lyme. Until I saw one. A highly recommended one. He knew nothing. Kept testing me for syphllis. Told me I had MS and lyme. Told me chronic lyme was extremely rare. Never heard of a CD57. Sided with the "really nice" insurance dr. when denied IV despite lesions on my brain. My husband was seen by ID dr. in the hospital. Told there was nothing wrong with him despite severe anxiety, joint pain, weight loss, anemia, rashes, kidney function tests abnormal, etc. He has since tested positive for babesia and lyme. ID drs. are waste of time. You will not get well. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. But my health is more important than finding a needle in a haystack.
