What generally happens at a first LLMD appointment?

In my case, I had to fill in a symptom check list. It was almost identical to the one in Dr Burrascano's Treatment Guidelines. I was glad I had already seen and considered it. Thinking and remembering all my symptoms was difficult through the haze of brain fog.

The doctor reviewed my history as pertaining to Lyme, and looked over the tests I had had done already. He took more blood for further tests (both to determine if anything else was going on in the way of MS, lupus etc, and determine if I had co-infections). He listened to my heart, and lungs, checked my abdomen and throat, took a blood pressure measurement. And then finished by writing a prescription and telling me we were going to beat this thing.

It did not take long and that was fine with me. Some doctors, I hear, will spend a lot of time with the patient in the first visit. There are a lot of different styles of medicine and healing.

Do remember that your doctor is your ally in this fight. You will want to trust them and feel comfortable with them. But that doesn't mean they should be your new best friend!

I also saw a couple very different doctors. It will depend on what testing you have had. If none, that will be a necessary step. they will of course want a symptom list so it may be easier for you to write them down instead of trying to remember as I get very nervous when I get there. Write down when everything started and any medical history. Of course they should perform a complete exam and will probably bring you back in after blood work as that is going to be crucial to see what is going on. Good luck. Keep us posted.

They said it would be a long appointment. I had to fill out a 25 page form about health history and current symptoms. I also have my own timeline and symptom list to bring. I've had a lot of tests, but not for Lyme specifically other than two negative Elisa tests. I see a naturopathic doctor this week and then a LLMD.
