Well, In him, the first two paragraphs describe exactly why I have chosen to do what I do, which is basically just follow a "sensible, healthy diet". I have discovered - just by paying attention to how I felt after eating each of those things that you mention - that I do best when I limit my intake of potatoes, yeast and pasta. I have to avoid sugar for another reason.
There are tons of foods that aren't excluded!! Instead of pasta, try quinoa (

Avoidance of yeast means no bread products that "rise". Things like biscuits would still be okay - but you will need to read labels. Also 'goggle' "yeast free breads, a ton of links will pop up for ideas of what to buy or what to make!
Avoidance of white potatoes is easy, just use red or yellow (often called Yukons) potatoes.
You should ask your doc if whole wheat pasta is okay, IMO. Although quinoa works as a grain or a pasta.
