natural supplements to fight lyme... can bacteria come to resist teasel and resveratrol?

so i have been using both antibiotics and supplements/herbs over the course of six months. a question i have is regarding teasel and resveratrol, and other natural approaches to kill lyme. just as our docs recommend changing antibiotics so the bacteria dont become resistant after a certain time, is there usually a time frame to treat with the natural route that i should be aware of? or can teasel and resveratrol (for example) be taken for months and months without bacteria becoming resistant?

trav! that is great to hear and makes me very hopeful! i went off antibiotics this weekend to ease my body with fighting off the yeast problem. im back on teasel, resveratrol, probiotics, garlic tabs.
so you were able to for the most part get rid of your lyme symptoms with herbs? other than the issues you are dealing with from the EBV?

In our local chapter for the Lyme Disease Association of the Esatern Shore of Maryland (LDAESM), we often talk about the various abx and herbals available for treatment and have many fairly esteemed guest speakers on the various subjects. Most of the discussion suggests changing things up fairly regularly - and that includes all modalities including the abx, herbals and supplementary things like saunas/baths etc. The theory is not to get stuck in such a regular pattern that the critters get used to the body state you might be in at a given time. For abx, you would change type, dosage, skp days, etc. For herbals, you might vary dosages, stop something for a while and add something else, etc. I have to say that the crowd at these meetings run the gambit much like on this site - the abx people, the herbal/NP folks and the hybrids who do a little of each (like me). But almost all the "old-timers" in the group will recommend that you keep switching things up to keep the critters off-balance. Obviously, this is not scientific proof as to what works but pretty strong anecdotal information to work with. I am following that approach but, since I am not yet healed, I don't know if it is the correct approach yet. BUT, I do know that, out of the hundreds of patients my LLMD has treated over the past several years, that I rank near the top of the rate at which I am eliminating Lyme from my body as measured via bioenergetics.

And, Trav's right, the "end game" here is not necessarily to kill off the critters with the herbs and/or the abx - though that is part of the process - the REAL end solution is to reduce the pathogen load in our bodies so that our own immune systems can get better and fight the critters on its own. That's kinda why I am using the abx/herbal/holistic hybrid approach. From the research I have been able to do, it seems that, while the abx can be EXTREMELY helpful in reducing pathogen load, your body MIGHT become too dependent upon them to do its fighting for it. So, augmenting with herbals and the like, which work with your body is a good course of action, I think. But still, even with the herbals, it might be wise to switch things up from time-to-time as the Lyme is always changing forms and cycling and trying to adapt to what we throw at it.

Hmmmmm.....

I started biaxin first to treat this lyme thing. I was on it 6 weeks then added ceftin & took them together for 2 weeks. Then saw a new LLMD & switched to doxy (with a 4 day break from abx) and took it for only 4 days d/t gastric pbs. Stopped it and took aloe Vera juice (which is antibacterial, anti fungal & antiviral) to heal the gut for about 4 dys and them went back on biaxin.

But this time when starting biaxin, I have been herxing for about a week now. Have bee n trying to figure out why. My old neuro symptoms are back.

Maybe all that Change in abx caused the bacteria to die off....????

If so, that makes me happy. M going to increase my strategies to detox and am even planning an enema soon, lol
