I just got my Lyme Western Blot back from Igenex. I've been suffering relapse symptoms for almost one year now (not too bad the past couple of months), and I know the test doesn't have near as many positives as before, but is this considered positive for Lyme?

31 kDa IND

39 kDa IND
41 kDa +++

CDC/NYS Result NEGATIVE

I'm so worried about those 4 plus signs on Band 31, but I am clueless to know what they mean. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you have a lot of Lyme-specific bands (83-93, 39, 34, 31, etc.) Most LLMD's will interpret IND bands as positive. This should be considered fully positive by a LLMD. I wouldn't be worried about that.

Band 41 shows the presence of the flagella of spirochetes. So if you don't have syphilis or a rip-roaring case of peridontal disease, you should assume Lyme disease.

Is there any reason I would be iGm positive which I thought indicated a new infection? I know I wasn't bit again (I am ridiculously vigilant). I would have expected to only be iGg positive since I've had the infection so long.

I've always been told IgG means exposure, and IgM means active/acute infection, not necessarily a new one.
