I've just joined the forum as I'm concerned that I may have Lyme disease.
I was initially convinced I was suffering from MS, but my symptoms while somewhat similar are much too inconsistent on an hourly basis for MS (my physician agrees).
I'm hoping that some of you could comment on my symptoms and the possibility of Lyme being the cause.
I have parasthesias in my hands and lower limbs (they come and go throughout the day and are not present every day), joint pain in my knee, fingers and shoulder - again, it comes and goes, headaches, neck pain, "foggy brain" at times, dizziness, insomnia, some neuropathic pain in my hands and bottom of my right foot........and the list goes on and on.
I live in an endemic area for ticks. My dog has had a number of ticks even though he is treated with Advantix, I've found ticks crawling on my kitchen floor and even on my pillow (dog jumped up on the bed and left me that gift) and my daughter had a tick embedded in her forehead a year ago (tick tested negative for Lyme and was only attached for a couple of hours). It is certainly possible that I have been bitten and not noticed it.
I talked my doctor into doing blood work (ELISA), but I can tell he is not convinced. He told me that Lyme is very rare.....but my research tells me that this is not in fact accurate.
Any comments would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
