How often should you check in

My son is 7 and has not seen his LLMD since August, when he started to have some symptoms increase due to them stopping his antibiotic, over the phone they placed him on the azthyromicin and Bactrim, stopped his herbs and said they would see us in Decemeber...Does this seem strange ?? Shouldn't someone be monitoring his blood work for other issues due to the antibiotics ?? Confused

I also see my doctor extremely often and am followed very closely by another doctor who knows about my situation as well.

I would say that 4 months is way too long to go without an appointment, but I know that many people do go that long. Particularly people who are going to the most well-known LLMD's because they have so many patients that the wait lists are huge.

It's also very difficult to find a doctor that will treat a child for Lyme. There are only a handful. I would be careful before completely dropping this doctor unless you have something else lined up for treatment. I would try to find a local ND or Integrative doc who might be willing to help monitor his treatment or at least order blood work and keep track of that in between appointments.

I absolutely would get his blood work monitored though and I would call back regarding that. In the beginning of treatment, I went about 2 months without a liver function test or CBC. I had no risks to have any liver complications. When I did go get the test, my enzymes were very high and I had to stop everything for a long time. I feel like that really impeded my treatment. Now I go every 1-2 weeks for a chem panel.
