Hello Friends, it's been awhile!  I could use some advice.  My kidney is not lovn the antibiotics. 

I have had extensive breaks from the amox/flagyl/Azith treatment.  My longest break was 18 months symptom free!!  However, this year I have had to push back the lyme when symptoms reappeared, but my left kidney has protested.  This time I was a month into the treatment and my blood tests were not good; Not good at all with both kidney and liver enzymes levated.

I have been off antibiotics a week, but my kidney has not calmed down. In fact today it seems worse.  Any experience out there with kidney injury from antibiotics??

PS Most of the time pee tests reveal just blood in the urine.  However, last Jan I had a full blown infection.

My kidneys so far have been okay, but I have had a lot of frustration with my liver. I can't say I know of anything that works quickly, but glutathione IV's, NAC, ALA and anything else that helps detox like teas, lemon water, etc. seem to help me. Overall though, my LLMD has never taken any chances and as soon as I had any abnormality I was off everything.

In my case, I think it was not only the abx, but also the infections causing my liver enzyme elevations. When I started a specific bart med (one that actually is known to contribute to liver issues) my liver enzymes went DOWN. So that's something to consider as well. Particularly if they stay elevated for a very long time after going off meds. My liver enzymes were elevated for unexplained reasons even prior to any medications.

I always felt like it could be a number of things. The abx, the infections or the die-off overwhelming the organs after herxing. Either way it's best to stay off until things settle and then try to start up again very slowly. I know it's frustrating though to keep having delays in treatment when your organs are not cooperating.

My husband has kidney problems and he was told to take N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) and has been seeing some positive results. Maybe mention to your doctor and see if it may help.
