I am going to start milk thistle as my LLMD is really encouraging more detoxing. Can anyone tell me a safe dose to start out with and how often?
Thanks,

Please start off on a low dose to even see if you can tolerate the milk thistle!
You will want to keep a steady dose level once you find the dose you can tolerate, so take this every day.

I agree. Start low. I tried taking milk thistle and it actually raised my liver enzymes higher. It's not helpful for everyone.

I took this a couple nights ago and was very nauseous. Did anyone else have this reaction? I took it many years ago when my liver enzymes were elevated, and now I'm thinking I might have had to stop for a reason. I just can't seem to remember for sure, but now I'm afraid to take it again. I don't do well with nausea, lol :)
It was a very low dose. 175 mg I believe, and the bottle recommends 3 times a day, but I didn't make it past one!!

I couldn't eve make it past the first dose either, Lymer. It has been suggested that if a person is allergic to ragweed (me) that they most likely won't tolerate milk thistle, as well as what your thoughts are about
raised liver enzymes being an issue.
I use a liver flush recipe that my doc gave me instead of milk thistle now.

Yes, mine was standardized, exactly as Buhner suggested. It just doesn't work well with my body I guess.
