Help Interpreting my Igenex Results

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but very grateful to have found it. 

Would someone be able to help interpret my Igenex results?  Does this mean I have Lyme, or do not have Lyme because I am CDC negative on IGM and IGG?.  (I am Igenex IGG positive)  I have many many clinical symptoms, and presented these to my ND who then also suspected it and did the WB.  Does only IGG results suggest chronic lyme?

Here are the results with only positive or IND bands that showed:

IGM:  CDC/NYS Negative

83-93 kDa: IND

IGG:  Positive  CDC/NYS Negative

31 kDa   IND

34 kDa   +

39 kDa   IND

41 kDa  ++

You have a few IND readings which, depending on who you ask, are usually considered positive. Your positive 34 band alone together with the IND on 31 and 39 are highly suggestive of having lyme. They are all lyme specific bands. Certainly don't go by CDC results or else none of us would have lyme.

Am I less likely to be treated by an MD because I am not CDC positive? Specifically speaking, can antibiotics only be prescribed if you are CDC pos?

Currently just started some herbals from my ND, and he does have an MD that is affiliated with his office. Wondering if I need antibiotics too, not just herbals?

Yes, herbals are enough to treat these infections, if your Practitioner knows enough about them. Many of us here are healing using only herbs, myself included. The choice is only a personal choice of which route you would rather use.

If you still choose to seek out treatment using conventional methods (abx) then please seek out a LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor) rather than any other type of doc, as they have received training specific to these infections from ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) on how to treat these infections so that they have a much less likelihood of relapsing. Infectious Disease doc's have a very high rate of relapses.

31, 39, and 83-89 are all specific to lyme. Those were all positive on my IGENIX western blot and my LLMD said that, w/o a doubt, it's lyme. Band 31 is the band that the CDC removed from their test because it's positive if a person had the Lyme vaccine. Very specific to Lyme.

As far as treatment, even if you had a CDC positive test, the infectious disease drs. would treat you for 30 days of 200mg Dox (not near long enough or aggressive enough in most cases) and send you on your way.

You need to find a LLMD to be treated effectively for Lyme Disease and Lyme Co-infections. Many people w/ LD also have co-infections.

Yes, many people do heal from herbals. Most LLMDs use a combination of herbals, antibiotics, and supplements. My LLMD believes that antibiotics are necessary. She uses herbals in combination and sometimes switches over to herbals at the end of treatment when stopping abx.

Glad you're here, but sorry for the circumstances! I too was CDC negative. My regular docs wanted NOTHING to do with treating me for Lyme, even though I have literally almost all of these symptoms (and there are a LOT!) Anyway, thanks to help from this forum I found a Lyme literate dr who said I'm a "classic" case (he didn't even have to see Tests, this was just based on my symptom(s) history). He was also able to say with certainty that I have co-infections, and although he did order more tests he went ahead and started me on antibiotics, anti fungals and supplements...and a strict diet. Everyone has their own way of healing, but for me personally I feel that antibiotics in combo with herbs and supplements is the way to go. However, I do know it's not for everyone. But in my case I hope I'm right!!! I actually just started treatment, so my fingers are crossed!

Anyway, you've already gotten some great advice from the others. Just wanted to let you know my experience in case it helps in any way.

Oh, and in case this wasn't mentioned, if you do decide to seek help from an LLMD, post a new thread that says, "Looking for LLMD in [your city and state]". That way people can help you find a lyme literate dr in your area. Someone may have already mentioned this, just throwing it out there just in case it hasn't been said yet!

You've found a good support system in this forum. Trust me, I'm thankful everyday that I found this group. Hi all,

Just catching up on the replies now after being gone on a trip. Very very good information here!!! I am feeling much better after reading all of the posts and stories :) Thank you everyone! I had a follow up appointment with my LLND today and asked him about the abx along with the natural protocol, and he said in the future if he sees the need he would work with the LLMD to incoporate them in. So I feel more settled with that. Hardest part about the whole 'Lyme' treatment is knowing it is not an overnight fix, this will be a long battle. Again, thank you all so much! :)
