Can anyone suggest what abx works best for dizziness, headaches, etc. Seeing my llmd tomorrow after getting positive test results from both labcorp and igenex. Someone suggested the doxy would not break the blood/brain barrier and so monocicline might be better!

Minocycline has double the tissue penetration so you only need half the dose as doxy so that normally is the better drug but the problem is it is more apt to cause dizziness because of its better penetration of the CNS.
Since you're already dizzy I don't think I would recommend you going with the mino.
You could have Bartonella also which is common with neuro symptoms. Are your headaches in the front?
If so and your LLMD suspects Bart then you may be put on Rifampin or possibly Bactrim to address that.

I was just put on ceftin for neurolyme. Seeing as I just started it I don't have too much to say but no ill side effects so far. It also crosses BBB.

Thanks for the response. My headaches are in the front- is that a symptom of bartonella? The bartonella showed negative on my igenex lab, but will ask my LLMD. ANYone have an opinion on how long I need to be on an abx to figure out if it is the correct one?

I've done most antibiotics. Ceftin was one of the worst ones for me in terms of herxing. I was severely depressed with a ton of anxiety on it. Minocycline was a lot milder. I didn't get any additional dizziness on it and no severe herxing. There is a doxy shortage, so that might not be the best choice right now.
I think it's different for everyone. Many Lyme doctors like to keep people on a medication for about
3 months (or longer) before determining if it's working and if it needs to be switched.

Testing for co-infections is highly inaccurate so your LLMD will go by symptoms in treating those. Bart headaches are frontal so it's a possibility you may have it especially since it's the most common co-infection you can get.

My LLMD put me on Mino. because it penetrates the Blood Brain Barrier. I have a lot of neuro. symptoms. It can cause dizziness, but didn't for me. So, that would be something to watch for-an increase in dizziness.
Also, babesia can cause headache and dizziness and I believe Bartonella can cause dizziness. I know it causes a lot of neuro. involvement. If you have a good LLMD, he/she will be able to sort it all out based on symptoms and decide on the best treatment to begin with.
If you have co-infections that are playing a part, that requires different medications than those used for Lyme.

Thanks mystery illness. What are the different meds they use for co-infections?

I have a lot of success in the past with Biaxin and Plaquenil. I have mainly neuro symptoms.

For bartonella-Rifampin, Bactrim, and others that have more risky side-effects so a lot of LLMDs aren't using them anymore.
Babesia-This is a malaria like parasite, so it requires malaria meds. Malarone, Mepron, etc.
